I think the Windows port is good enough to come out of alpha
Hi,
I've been giving the Windows port a pretty solid go over the last few days and it has not misbehaved at all.
A dev env can now be set up with a few software installations and an unzip, and the makefile now supports Win32 without modification. I think anyone who knows enough to actually work on the game should be able to get compiling without problems in less than an hour.
Nic has given us a structure for creating both full installers and update installers.
All this makes me think it is time for the Windows port to come out of alpha.
What do you think?

It isn't so much the programmer as GNUstep that stinks on Windows. Although I do work in the mode of just getting things running, assuming you and Giles will clean up afterwards ;)winston wrote:Well, you can't be ENTIRELY unwashed then if you worked on the Linux port :-)
But I guess it is like a dancing dog... forget the quality, it is the fact it exists at all that should provoke amazement!

I'm both a Mac and Linux user. My laptop is a 12in PowerBook, and my desktop is a 2GHz P4 running Fedora Core 2 (hopefully Fedora Core 5 come the 21st).TGHC wrote:So who is more anti windows, Mac or Linux users?
/me runs like Forest Gump.
We aren't really anti Windows, we're just content in the knowledge of how superior we are
