My other main concern is not as great, but assuming this device uses all the fuel, this would leave the player emerging in a completely unknown system in the next galaxy without any fuel. This could prove a trifle inconvenient!Smivs wrote:One other thought. Had you considered your proposal in terms of the native Nova Mission? Your change would make this mission impossible.

Re: The Honourable Guild of Test Pilots
Well, it is one of the perks of the job to receive and use WIP's as a test pilot. But it ends there. The Honourable member should not distribute it without prior permission of the author. I have a folder with a load of oxp's that I have tested. I will never say what is in that folder never mind even contemplate releasing any of them.

My advice is for patience. Wait for it to be released then grab it.

Re: The Honourable Guild of Test Pilots
I wouldn't say that for sure. The version I tested was on a player ship. So that tells something about the intentions of the author.

Re: The Honourable Guild of Test Pilots
Now read it again, slowly, Mandoman. I'm trying to find a way of preventing a player from using the galdrive after they've been warned, "You don't have sufficient fuel for a gal jump", that's all. Nothing to do with deliberately trapping people in the nova mission or anywhere else.mandoman wrote:Why anyone should be "punished" for trying to escape an impending Nova is beyond me.Wildeblood wrote:I was thinking of novating the arrival system as a way of punishing people who jump with insufficient fuel. Now you're telling me they'd still be able to scoop fuel and escape? Bah! I guess I'll have to resort to the horrible "mass-locked by invisible ship" hack to stop 'em.
My challenge is simply that - unlike a normal witchspace jump - the intergalactic jump never ends in a misjump into interstellar space. So I can put a warning on screen: "You don't have sufficient fuel for a jump. You'll be stranded in interstellar space!" but I can't make it actually happen if they ignore the warning.

... "meh" ...
Take an idea from one person and twist or modify it in a different way as a return suggestion so another person can see a part of it that can apply to the oxp they are working on.

GUILD LOGO
The Honourable Guild of Test Pilots now has a logo.
Based on the Bell X-1 this is 80px high with a transparent background and can be used by Guild members in their BB signature etc. Any Guild member is welcome to download and use the Guild logo.
Edit:- We have been asked not to use these logos in sigs as they take up space on the page and bandwidth. This is a shame but we don't want to cause anybody any problems. Obviously you are still free to use this as an Avatar (as Ironfist has done).
