Re: Screenshots
One of my favourite techniques (when gutting a nice dead python or whatever) is to stop very close. carefully shoot it till it blows, then ease into the mass of cargo pods and 'wiggle' a bit, just slowly roll and pitch up and down slowly. This way you can often suck-up six or seven pods in one go.

Splashing Interceptors when they're using their injectors ain't too easy... but it makes for great sport! Especially when you're testing some tasty classified ordnance.
This poor Interceptor tried to prevent me from docking... it blew in the next frame:

That's a lovely screenie - and I love the lighting effect/bloom from the impact - if only the moon wasn't quite so obviously faceted it would be perfect...

Agreed about the moon, but taking pics in the middle of a nasty dogfight doesn't leave any time for posing the background.DaddyHoggy wrote:That's a lovely screenie - and I love the lighting effect/bloom from the impact - if only the moon wasn't quite so obviously faceted it would be perfect...
The 'lighting effect/impact bloom' is actually the ordnance that I was testing... a very tasty weapon indeed!

As you say, its very difficult to get the screenshot at the right time. But, when you really go for the pictures, you can add specials scripts to the attacked ship.El Viejo wrote:..., but taking pics in the middle of a nasty dogfight doesn't leave any time for posing the background.

e.g. placing a screenshot command in the attacked handler. That way you take the picture exactly at the moment of every shot. Actually that is to early as the laser beam is drawn a bit later and the impact flash even after that. I experimented a bit with timers. It works nice when setting a timer to make a picture 0.15 seconds after the hit. That way its guaranteed to have a screenshot with impact on it

Heh... thanks, Eric... if I was using the console or whatever, I'd probably try that out.

During a flight for the "Most Honourable Guild of Master Test Pilots" I saw this out of a window.
Any thoughts on how to destroy something of this size?

As there are no refenrence points you can't tell if that ship is 1 km or 100 km away though...

Sorry, I'm gonna have to call bull. Everything that isn't a main station can fall to enough Q-blasts.
Unload your hold around it then detonate a Q-bomb to generate a load of cascade explosions to hammer it; or wait till it's engaged with a pirate gang then Q-bomb it.
Even if the cascade attack doesn't kill it right off, it should be weakened enough to fall to a conventional laser and missile barrage.
