Bug Reports feedback for build 1.63

Thought I'd start a generic thread where all the feedback could go, and yes I got up early to play oops sorry test,test,test. :wink:

Anyway, have encountered a number of problems:-

No missiles or Quirium mines for sale anywhere certainly up to Tech 14.

Blank Mission screen intermittently coming up when docked

Get a very brief glimpse of a huge cargo cannister (or part of it cos it's right in yer face )immediately after scooping it

Jettisoned cargo cannisters show briefly in the scanner then disappear completely, mind you I'm not complaining, unless I chuck out some gold by mistake in my "enthusiasm", and want to rescoop it (is that a real word?)

looks like a lot of drawing in of rectums - must be thargoids who know I'm back!


Ok I'll try again without any OXP's in case they are causing problems, Ill used an old saved game with a standard MKIII not my blinged up soon to have a naval energy unit super duper Cobra :twisted:

That will be due to a bug in the released version. If you look in the release thread you'll see a link to oolite.zip which contains a replacement executable. That will fix that problem.
out some gold by mistake in my "enthusiasm", and want to rescoop it (is that a real word?
I might try and figure out how to remap that key, I keep hitting 'd' when I need to slow down quickly (and should be hitting 's')

I'll release a new version today with that fix already contained. Thanks for all your testing :) I'm gonna go look into that missile/mine problem.

Yup, you are right missiles aren't showing up when your docked and should be able to buy them.

The problem is in: PlayerEntity.m and with setGuiToEquipShipScreen.

I believe the problem is in the logic of option_okay &=
Using &= instead of = can cause oddities if initially the value is not set to true/YES.

I'm guessing this is a problem with all trunk builds right now.

@Winston: What are your thoughts on this?

Edit: Because option_okay is not set to YES to begin with for missiles and mines, none of the &= can make it equal to YES. There are a lot of minor changes that could be made to fix this. But I don't know the "right" one. Winston and/or Aegidian will have to do the fix and then i'll make a new release.

Funny you should mention this, I noticed this last night too, but didn't have an opportunity to look into it. I will probably tonight or this weekend.

missiles/mines missing, as already mentioned

When I get into combat everything begins to crawl. oolite running XP, AMD1900Mhz, 1Gb RAM Geforce, 64Mb Graphics card

Have I missed something on the install?

Yes I was noticing the missing-missiles bug too. I just committed a proper fix (r303).

Not by long, Oolite-Linux now has an automatic nightly build. The first run just completed :-)

Seems to run very well, have found two issues:

I think Giles is already onto this one - scooping cannisters is pretty much ok, it does hesitate a bit sometimes, Metal fragments however seem to get "jammed" halfway in the scoop, causing audio and visual hiccups. I've found that you can dirupt and eject it by hitting "J" which ejects the fragment forcibly, with varying results, it either goes into the ether or you ram it a few times, before it disappears.

The second is the Scanner zoom not always working, i'll try and get the stderr

The only thing I've found is that the TOGY takes FOREVER to load in. It hangs the system for a while, and the controls and response from commands is sluggish all through the Tionisla system. Once one jumps out, everything is fine.

That's fixed in the source (oolite thought keyboard entry, i.e. for things like commander names and planet names from the long range screen) was still on and was supressing the scanner zoom key. The fix will show up in the Linux nightly build at 4am tomorrow morning and whenever the next Windows build is done.

Hi,

I've been using the latest build, and every now and then the game will just crash out to desktop - other times the PC actually rebooted. I'm running Windows XP Pro with SP2.

Here's the STDERR.TXT file - hope it helps. Is there anything I can do to prevent it? - I've added the OXP's one by one, but out of the blue - just when you think it's all working ok - it crashes. I can't see anything obvious in the file though:

No, seriously - if a crash caused your machine to reboot, you probably have buggy drivers (suspect the OpenGL drivers first). Windows XP (by default) reboots where Windows 2000 or NT would give a blue screen of death. The first thing to try is to get the latest version of the reference drivers for your card's chipset (i.e. get them directly from nVidia or ATi or Intel or whoever made the GPU for your graphics card).

Like road accidents, most computer crashes are caused by bad drivers!
