UASR satelite landing in your garden

Post by Eric Walch »

The predicted 'landing' of the bus-sized UARS satellite is predicted for today, so, stay in door :P

But, I am affright that there will only be a few flashes in the sky, and nothing touchable on the soil. :?
The 20-year-old satellite – the Upper Atmosphere Research Satellite (UARS) – will make an uncontrolled re-entry through the Earth’s atmosphere. Pieces of the 6.5-ton satellite are expected to survive the fiery plunge and hit our planet, although no one knows exactly where.

No problem, my garden has been picked clean already. :)
Take an idea from one person and twist or modify it in a different way as a return suggestion so another person can see a part of it that can apply to the oxp they are working on.

UARS - seriously, could they not pick a better acronym? or is that what you shout when it lands on your house?

apparently something this size drops out of orbit once a year. Usually its a rocket housing or some such.

It's the nuke powered ones you have to watch out for. :)

i woulda thought any chunk of debris plummetting down from orbit at terminal velocity would be worth watching out for.

While browsing the catalog who do you think I would run into?

Related to another gourd, perhaps? :?
