[UPDATE RELEASE] Accessories v2.2
V2.2 is now available. See here for details.
Accessories has been my most popular OXP with almost 1500 downloads, but it has hardly been revised since its launch in June 2010. So time for a change!
v2.0 is an almost entirely new version with only three of the original textures being carried over unchanged. In terms of the textures, the big news is that the stations have all had a make-over, and now have beautiful new textures and improved dock detailing. The Rock Hermit has also been overhauled, and there are now five different versions to give variety. Most of the other textures have been revised with improvements varying from a nicer texture for the rocks, to a much better incarnation of the cargo pod.
The other major improvement is 'under the hood'. Models have now been included in the OXP, so rather than relying on the 'core' models this is now a stand-alone OXP. This brings it into line with it's companion, Smivs'Shipset and will ensure that the OXP continues to work even if the core models are changed.
Smivsonline and the Wiki page have both been updated. Download Accessories from Smivsonline as before.
Thanks go to Ironfist and Richard-H for play-testing, bugfixing and feedback, and to all the regulars at DS's for putting up with endless screenshots, and for their help and advice.
Pictures of some of these have been posted here on the BB in 'Screenshots' recently and all the entities are pictured on the two webpages, but here's a cargopod to whet your apetites.

Re: [RELEASE] Accessories v2.0
They just keep getting better. Good job Smivs!
Take an idea from one person and twist or modify it in a different way as a return suggestion so another person can see a part of it that can apply to the oxp they are working on.

Re: [RELEASE] Accessories v2.0
I get a problem with this version of Accessories. For some reason, all rock hermits are gone after installing the OXP. If you need me to post a log, please let me know. I was trying to dock with the torus drive engaged... Hard to do without Rock hermits, but you know I'll get screenshots up eventually...

Re: [RELEASE] Accessories v2.0
[Solved]
OK, I've identified the problem. It's a case-sensitive issue where some of the hermits were called "Rock hermit" instead of "Rock Hermit". It actually wasn't preventing hermits being spawned but was preventing RHL from seeing them.
I have uploaded a fixed version. This problem will only affect Linux and macs I expect. If you want to fix your copy, open the shipdata.plist in a text editor (NOT notepad) and change
to
Remember there is more than one to change.
Apologies.

Sometimes the case-sensitive File System is can be quite annoying, but (I guess) useful for programmers.Smivs wrote:This problem will only affect Linux and macs I expect. If you want to fix your copy, open the shipdata.plist in a text editor (NOT notepad) and changetoCode: Select all

Anyway, the new version of Accessories looks great, the stations are much improved. I love the new asteroids... I'll be on the lookout for Rock Hermits.

Re: [RELEASE] Accessories v2.0
First of all: Wow! The new station textures look marvellous! Great job!
Unfortunately the OPX does not seem to work on my imac. I copyed it into the addons-folder, restarted oolite using the SHIFT-key but all the stations appear with the oolite standard textures. I´m using the latest version of oolite (1.75.3). The prior version of accessories works fine, I never had any problems with it. I´m also using the ships-set, this OXP also works fine.
Any ideas what could be wrong?
Best regards

Re: [RELEASE] Accessories v2.0
Thanks Beatnik, it's good to know people like this
I have no idea why the stations don't appear on your imac. As you've seen them I assume you've also got this installed on another computer, and it's OK. Is that right?
Have you looked in the log?
Any thoughts, anyone?

Re: [RELEASE] Accessories v2.0
No, have not tested the OXP on another computer. I just watched the screenshots in the gallery.
Checking the logfile sounds good. How do I do that? Where does oolite store the logfile?

Let's hope we can work out why you don't get them then.Captain Beatnik wrote:No, have not tested the OXP on another computer. I just watched the screenshots in the gallery.
It should be in the same folder as AddOns. Open it and C&P it here and we can see if it tells us anything.Captain Beatnik wrote:Checking the logfile sounds good. How do I do that? Where does oolite store the logfile?
Is it just the stations? Everything else is OK is it? Cargo pods, asteroids etc.

Re: [RELEASE] Accessories v2.0
Will all the pretty stuff still work without shaders or will I have to wait for my graphics card to arrive before it's worth installing?
Now over 1000 confirmed kills. Bring on the bad guys!

Re: [RELEASE] Accessories v2.0
Hi Commander Trigg,
No, you don't need shaders for these. None of my OXPs use shaders
So no need to wait.

Well, that's another download closer to the 1500!

Re: [RELEASE] Accessories v2.0
It´s not only the stations, the whole OXP does not seem to work.
Seemingly there is a problem on my imac parsing the shipdata.plist. The log gives this error message:

Re: [RELEASE] Accessories v2.0
Problem solved!
In Line 21, Line 164 and Line 190 of shipdata.plist the semicolon after the braceright was missing. After I added the three missing semicolons with a texteditor, everything worked fine.
Now I can see the all the new textures.
Once again many thanks to Smivs for contributing this excellent OXP.
Best regards
