Hm,
in the three topics about this, hardly anyone who has not all pylons in use.
I used to have about 2 hardheads*, and keep 2/3 of the 4/5 available pylons free, so any scooped missiles would not get lost. (I think it is either pods or cargo_wrecks_teaser that is responsible for "scoopable" missiles appearing.)
*though for a while I loaded standard missiles only and tried to replicate this manoeuvre with wich NPC ships always got me killed, but not to much success. (close in fast, throw a standard missile when very close.)
How many pylons do you have?

I think they both do - Pods certainly does.

Re: How many pylons do you have?
I'm flying a Caddy nowadays, so I have 8 pylons, all hardheads except for one quirium mine.
Rarely use 'em, except when I 'm on a mission...
Onno out.

Re: How many pylons do you have?
Chopped cobra has only three, and it's a case of laser or leave 'em ... at speed!
My pylons are for extra fuel to cover distance fast, either fleeing or chasing.
I had modified a falcon to carry 10 missiles but found no real advantages over the good use of a military laser. Feudal challenges hone the laser skills and offer easy credits too.

Re: How many pylons do you have?
Dark Rainbow pilot here... all of 16 pylons.
Let's see (my pylon load is usually a moving target). Usually revolves around the following:
2 fuel tanks (injection at will with no worries)
5 I-Missiles (rarely get to use these, actually gathering dust )
1 Buzz Bomb (my favorite for clusters of 5+ baddies)
2 Field Missiles (one of these for the SECOND cluster of 4+ baddies, the other is mostly a spare )
1 Captured Thargons (these seem to be more of a visual pleasure than a real fighting aid )
1 Cargo Shepherd (good for retracing the strayed CT's)
2 3-in-1 Interceptors (for when Missile Spoof goofs)
1 3-in-1 Hardheads (seldom used)
1 Thargoid Drone (mostly as a distraction element)
As the Dark Rainbow has 10 turrets, my fighting style does not use missiles frequently for single targets, so I mostly use the pylons for the batches of baddies that ToughGuys seems to be very prolific of.
Cheers
