Race for the Finis...

Post by drew »

Starting working on Finis tomorrow. I have around 60k words to write, edit and tweak before the end of November - giving me the first half of December to get it ready for uploading. That's 12 weeks.

5k words per week. Urgh.

Wish me luck.

Cheers,

Drew.

I managed that in bursts on Endless Possibilities - but it's hard to sustain - and in the end - through illness and work commitments I failed to do so...

Good luck!

Just over 100,000 words - but I've got to go back and rewrite two deeply emotional scenes that currently aren't deeply emotional and it's proving to be very difficult - but I must crest this high point on the roller coaster of my main character's life, otherwise he will have no reason to propel himself forward into his new life...

Good luck, Drew - looking very forward to this, and think 5K per week is doable - take it easy though! - sure no one's going to be narked if it takes a bit longer  .

Very best wishes!

I'm pressurising myself a little. In 2012 I want to start on another project, so I want the Oolite Saga off my desk in time.

Good progress so far. Already somewhere near 11k words. Prologue sorted and hope to have Chapter One complete today (first draft).

I'll use this thread to keep you updated on my progress...

Cheers,

Drew.

ps. Avoid the Aesbion system if you know what's good for you.

Ah an easy place to get into and tricky to get out of if you don't watch your mouth.

Oh-kaaay...

High enough a TL for the triple-R (repairs, refuel, reload), and a corporate state meaning not enough pirates or slavers about to make for a worthwhile hunt.

Political dissidents *snort* not worth the trouble. They can put the petty bickering aside and stand a chance, or they can carry on with shooting each other and get rolled up wholesale by the Thargs.

It's even more dangerous when the Galactic Navy rocks up with a small armada...

Anyway. 15k words hit this week (4k ahead of target) and Chapter One complete. Initial big picture set, Chapter Two goes back to our favourite compadres...

...What are they going to do now the bugs have kidnapped our feisty space mistress? Will Coyote get another hole in his hat? Will Derik need a second tub of grease? will Daddyhoggy conjugate the verb 'to go'? Whose to tell...

...Oh yeah, that would be me.

Cheers,

Drew.

Oh but wait, things get a bit more interesting.

Last episode, you left us with an unpiloted fighter...and Jim.
Rebecca at least has skill and talent, if a little hotheaded and too prone to taking unnecessary risk.

The Prof, now what's he got? Uh-huh, thought so.

In the words of a certain rogue droid, "We're boned!"

There's a bit of history to that...

One of the slavers responsible for Ramania's plight holed himself up on a feudal world, where he got himself appointed as a minor baron. None of which was going to stop Derik from taking his head.

Derik is no stranger to melee combat, and as can be expected, is ruthless and brutal about it. Derik purchased the axe on that feudal world, and between it, his dagger, and his claws, everything that was living in that castle wasn't living by daybreak the next morning.
The Lizard has a vindictive streak a light-year long; it's a very bad idea to mistreat those he cares about.

The bugs should be very, very, very worried. Hmm?
