Re: Science Fiction Trivia
I thought this would be easy, given that it's a reasonably modern and well known author... Sorry.
The author is notable for several novels based on a popular militaristic sci-fi series that itself is based on a successful film.

somehow I consider this is extremely cool, funny and a bit sad at the same timeSelezen wrote:The author is notable for several novels based on a popular militaristic sci-fi series that itself is based on a successful film.

Re: Science Fiction Trivia
It's a series of two books, the first of which is a techno-thriller and the second of which is 500 years later and is more sci-fi.
Come on, it's not that hard, surely?

I've only been able to think of either Stargate or Battlestar Galactica ... can't find any likely candidates, though!Selezen wrote:The author is notable for several novels based on a popular militaristic sci-fi series that itself is based on a successful film.

I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

Re: Science Fiction Trivia
After copious cheating, I’m going to go with Ark Ship by Sonny Whitelaw. If so, it’s a lot more obscure than you seem to think. :-) (Also, Sonny Whitelaw is a woman and Ark Ship predates The Rhesus Factor, but those would be easy mistakes to make.)

Re: Science Fiction Trivia
Ha, sounds like Niven, Pournelle, & Bear collaborated to produce one giant ball of stink from all of their silliest novels.Selezen wrote:This modern novel tells the tale of a human race cast into the stars as a virus decimated the population and turned the rest into something...different.
The danger is not over, though, as something dark and hidden threatens mankind's very soul...
(note: I haven't actually read this, but it came up in a line of research I was making into writing a sci-fi story of my own recently, which pissed me off as it has huge chunks of similarity to the reams of notes I made about my project - hence why it stuck in my mind).
Pass.

Re: Science Fiction Trivia
YAAAY!!
Ahruman gets the prize. Looks like my ignorance made it harder than it should have been then. I tend to assume copious cheating on this topic, hence why I try and be a little obscure. Still, though, I didn't expect this to be as hard as it was.
I apologise...

More clues needed, I think ... unless we have a Commander Cthulhu?

Aha ... this was news to me. I've dug it up, but I'll wait and see if anyone else might know the answer without resorting to Google!Wyvern wrote:the intention is stated to the intergalactic operator at the end of the current call.
