The "frag" in "Metal fragment" seems (at least to my Canadian ear) to be pronounced more like the "frag" in "fragrance".
Try changing this:
Code: Select all
metal [[inpt PHON]]fr1AXgmUHnt[[inpt TEXT]]
to this:
Code: Select all
metal [[inpt PHON]]fr1AEgmUHnt[[inpt TEXT]]
in:
Code: Select all
Oolite.app/Contents/Resources/Config/speech_pronounciation_guide.plist
Attacking a Navigational Beacon is illegal. Police are on their way.

That's weird, to my 'Belgian' ear (So I'm a non native speaker) it sounds like freggmund (German-ish)
I always thought it was funny.
BTW: you never hade any crashes? I had Oolite crash quite frequently on me, until I switched off the speech-synth

Mac. It uses the OS X speech synth.
(which caused the 'pure virtual method called' crash, puzzling Winston and Ahrumand, because that's not an Obj-C errormessage, turns out Synth is C++)
