My workplace PC reported a virus in the Sarcmark_Graphic.exe file.

Re: Oh joy...
Which is interesting and worrying - because I sent the SarcMark people a snottergram (after I posted this link) after a pop-up on the Win7 version of the app tells the user to select "Run" rather than "Save" when presented with a choice - which I told them in no uncertain terms was an absolute no-no. They haven't replied.Selezen wrote:My workplace PC reported a virus in the Sarcmark_Graphic.exe file.

Well there doesn't seem to be a Linux version....they obviously don't want to waste time trying to infect the un-infectable!

<Smivs nods at Cheyd, removes tongue from cheek>
Obviously 'un-infectable' was not entirely accurate, which is why I still protect my network thoroughly. If nothing else, Linux machines can act as 'carriers' and store and pass on nasties to others, even though un-affected themselves.

Re: Oh joy...
I run an AV app on my Ubuntu box mainly because I don't want to accidentally pass on a Windows based virus to my friends and family. I persuaded my wife to install an AV app on her HTC/Android phone for the same reason - less worried about getting an Android targeted virus, but as she uses it for her email, so is worried about receiving and then accidentally sending on a Windows based virus.

Re: Oh joy...
The purpose of the SarcMark, and other such devices, is to help communicate in written form the information conveyed by tone of voice, in spoken language. Why don't we just use the handy-dandy International Phonetic Alphabet? That way, if we want to say something in a sarcastic, or enthusiastic, or nervous, or surprised, or mildly affronted tone of voice we can simply choose the right arrangement of symbols and everyone will understand what we mean. ɖœɴ'ʈ ɣøʊ t͡ʃɪ̈ɳç ʂœ?

Aww, what did the interrobang ever do to you?!Cmdr James wrote:Finally, a new symbol to rival the idiocy of the interrobang.
I find it quite useful in places such as this forum, or in personal emails/chats, as I don't use emoticons, and find it helps to convey my tone better. Although I would never dream of using it in a formal/official piece of writing...

Re: Oh joy...
What did it ever do to me? Nothing, it is every bit as excellent and needed as the SarcMark :p
