Wavehandium is a rare allotrope of handwavium. The presence of either can be detected by a sudden violation of the laws of physics as they are currently, and forseeably, understood. Some pertinent examples being:

• Handwavium chairs, which allow organic beings to be accelerated phenomenally hard without blacking out, or being flattened to the thickness of a credit card
• Handwavium spaceships that possess mass and volume, yet have no momentum regardless of their velocities
• Handwavium engines that can provide limitless amounts of thrust while being small, portable and consuming no fuel
• Handwavium fuel which, when used in a handwavium engine, provides enough energy to rapidly create and maintain a wormhole of multi-lightyear range

When in doubt, we can only appeal to Arthur C. Clarke's Third Law: "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic"

I have always been partial to the CHAOS theory and the butterly effect. Since disturbances in space are generated at the speed of light and go in a spherical 360 degree directions... everything is affected to some degree.. some minor or some catastrophicically unpredictable. Your handwavium is a perfect example of the butterly effect.

This has been proven to have nothing to do with the sicky side, but everything to do with the average hight of a kitchen table.
