[IDEA] Martial Law OXP

Post by Wyvern Mommy »

a convo with El Viejo and Fatleaf in the chatroom turned into a planning session for this OXP idea:

you jump into a system, and run into the proclamation:

"This system is under martial law!"

now what does that mean to you?

first of all, GalNavy has taken over police duties. warships line the shipping lanes like sheppard dogs. no diversion from shipping lanes are allowed, and no sunskimming before you hit the station.

any crime that would normally get you an "offender" status, takes you straight to "fugitive".

any contraband you carry into the station will be confiscated. if you're lucky you might be able to sell it to a rock hermit on the way in, otherwise better eject it outside the aegis.

the state of martial law would affect prices for goods both at the station and at rock hermits.

and -maybe- if you managed to get to the station with a clean record and a high enough rating, you'll be offered a place in the navy's police force for the duration of the emergency. go out there and enforce the martial law in the shipping lanes. either with your own ship, or with the navy ship offered (thinking about a Navy "Wyvern Princess" with all the bells and whistles), in which case you'd get your own ship back when you're discharged.

right now the scripting for this is way outside my abilities, so any help from scripters would be more than welcome.

Talk to Dragonfire, he implemented that function for his Personal Base OXP.
