New development release - 1.63-dev1

Post by winston »

A new development release is out at the usual place:

http://oolite-linux.berlios.de
ftp://ftp.alioth.net/oolite
rsync://rsync.alioth.net/oolite-linux-dev/i386

Note that oolite-update *only* makes an update for stable releases, and not development releases. If you want to use rsync, invoke this command in the directory that contains both 'oolite.app' and 'oolite-deps':

Code: Select all

rsync -al rsync://rsync.alioth.net/oolite-linux-dev/i386/* .
New in this release is the octree collision detection that Giles has been working on. You can now also see your own exhaust plumes in your rear view (which makes an interesting strategy on what ship you choose - some now have better rear views than others!), and the compass/station aegis etc. on the scanner are now no longer bitmaps, but drawn by the game completely (so when the Windows build catches up, hopefully this will be the end of the invisible compass)
