"Wyvern" Ship OXP Rename...
I just discovered that our dear Wyvern is already building a ship bearing his namesake. But in the Ooniverse, whatever name is given to the ship I'm coordinating would be the property of Dark Sky Enterprises. Thus, I need another name.
I want something dragon-themed, but "Dragon", "Wyvern", and "Basilisk" are already taken.
I thought of "Fafnir", and Wyvern thought "Ygdrasil". Any other suggestions?

Ddraig - tis Welsh for Dragon.
or how about Drakos (Δράκος) - Greek......
e2a - Abraxas is a pretty cool Persian Dragon name... also has connotations of a Supreme Deity and is related etymologically to Abracadabra....so would fit well with the almost supernatural uberness of the ships....
I like Naga and Hydra too but both of those are already used.

Yggdrasdil is a tree ... a big tree, but still a tree. Jörmungandr might do.Dragonfire wrote:I just discovered that our dear Wyvern is already building a ship bearing his namesake. Or you could have something like "Dracul", or "Druk", or just go for "Serpent".

There’s a pretty impressive tree named Yggdrasil in the Hyperion Cantos. To be fair, though, it is a tree.Disembodied wrote:I thought of "Fafnir", and Wyvern thought "Ygdrasil".

Manticore?
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

actually, the name "ygdrasil" was used for a dragon in a novel, that's how it came to mind.Ahruman wrote:There’s a pretty impressive tree named Yggdrasil in the Hyperion Cantos. To be fair, though, it is a tree.Disembodied wrote:I thought of "Fafnir", and Wyvern thought "Ygdrasil".

Lung, or Asian dragon. Not to be confused with the respiratory organs of airbreathers.
Or Grendel, the dragon of Beowulf fame.

Re: "Wyvern" Ship OXP Rename...
There is a dragon in Beowulf, but it isn't Grendel.
In the poem, Grendel (and his mother) are man-eating ogre thingies and are described as "descendants of Cain".
The dragon isn't actually given a name.
If we're sticking to the heraldic beasts theme, what about "Yale" (a sort of mountain goat that can aim its horns in any direction) or "Manticore" (a lion's body with a human head and a scorpion's tail) ?
