Is the Boa II Clipper Class as good as everyone says?

Post by RyanHoots »

I'm thinking about downsizing to a Boa II Clipper Class. Would it be worth it? It's mainly the 150 T cargo capacity that I want, but I want my ship to be able to fend off pirates, too.

. .. .

My Clipper routinely takes on 15 plus Toughguy Armageddon pirates, with ease. Of course it's good enough! :D

Good. I didn't think about that. I'm on my way to the highest TL system in the area. Maybe tomorrow I'll do a re-texture and find a name.

I am now the proud owner of the Koneko Maru. Thanks for a great OXP, Smivs. I love it.

Treat her well and she'll serve you well. :)

Where does the name come from?

Koneko means kitten in Japanese, so I thought it would confuse my Japanese enemies. Just imagine a pirate saying, "Beat by a kitten? No way!" Press space, commander.

Good. Just finished the texture, the only change is the name "Koneko Maru" on one side and the Japanese version, 子猫丸 (thanks to Google Translate), on the other side.

Eh, you'd probably want to use the Hiragana まる instead of the Kanji 丸 cause your way would more likely be thought as "Round Kitten" Or "Kitten Pills"
*(ADCK's Kitten pills, now with 70% real kitten! Sold separately O_o )

I'd probably go the hiragana こねこ for kitten as well just for balance.

Oh and Maru would go before Kitten in this case.

So まるこねこ (Ma Ru Ko Ne Ko) is what I'd go with.

On a side note, Google is a pretty good translator, but I prefer http://www.eudict.com as it gives the meaning of the word and can do Romaji.
But it takes some getting used to, not very user friendly.
Or google hiragana/katakana for charts.

Seconded, and what I often wonder is, why do people know these things. What event in life triggers a need or a wish to acquire these odd pieces of information.

As for my knowledge of Japanese, the answer is decades of anime and manga have taught me alot.
You should see my collection of DVD's, manga, and PVC figures, well over $30000 AUD worth.

Mine would be the まるオタクストーカー (Stalker Otaku Maru)

Just to give it that little touch of creepyness.

Just a pity OOlite does not know unicode in shipnames (or messages). Using your code as shipname results in only questionmarks as name. But at least does the log about this ship know about unicode:

Code: Select all

[Ship "まるオタクストーカ" position: (8765.22, 59650.9, 315011) scanClass: CLASS_NEUTRAL status: STATUS_IN_FLIGHT]
And even the mac target inspector uses the correct symbols for that shipname.
