Let's just say I wish I never had to do it again... And in a way I don't... Cause the newer version of it I'm making has almost 10 times the detail and will take much longer to do. :P

I already UV unwrapped the upper front city on the new version, and it crashed Wings the first time.

Got to say, I love that retexture, I spent so much time texturing the buildings that when I came to do the main hull I just kinda said "Meh, stuff it, I'll just recolor a pic of some tiles I found"

Retexturing the buildings would be hard, there's something like 200 pieces in that png.
You might notice I had a go at reskinning it. I had a problem with the raised areas on the dorsal and ventral surfaces, though: The textures for these are on a separate .png in a different pattern to the holes on the main one. I did manage the ones on the front-dorsal section by making a marquee of the holes and cutting out the texture then dividing it up and placing each little bit where it seemed to fit! Took ages! Still think they look OK though.
Ya, the building's roofs don't exactly match the layout of the hull, I tried my best at getting them as close to their neighbours as possible, but It was a bit of a nightmare to map, and then imagine doing the walls, if i remember right, there's something like 1000 windows on that thing hehe.

nice looking big bulky thing that.
any particular reason why there's no exhaust plumes, is that some back story thing for the ship?

Its a 4 kilometre long ship that travels very slowly, doesn't have the speed to really get them going. It does have them though. Plus they're fairly small (in comparison to the model) at 30 meters wide and 80 meters long.

The length of exhaust plumes is determined only by the speed of the ship: slow ship, short plumes. The length value in shipdata is a dummy.

The Generation Ship also suffers from this, having a very wide but very short plume because of its slow speed.

"The length value in shipdata is a dummy"
yeah, i wanted this to be included as a working item cos there's no point whatsoever in having variahbles in code that are never used, and specific lengths could be used to add effects like smaller manoeuvering engines on big ships etc.

The texture I used was sampled from this pattern. Feel free to use this yourselves if you wish!

If you look closely you can see a face on the right. Looks like the face of the rock monster in "Neverending Story".
Take an idea from one person and twist or modify it in a different way as a return suggestion so another person can see a part of it that can apply to the oxp they are working on.

Not only faces, when going up from the face, I see a mouse with big ears, like in a cartoon.

And of course yo will find everything that is on the right, also on the left side.

I see the mouse NOW, thanx Eric and now I see on the other side some sort of aztec/inca like figure. I'm not gonna look at this any more!

Have a look at this and see if you can see something... odd!

Never had this before. And as far as I'm aware it isn't oxp induced.

You always get that after scooping escape capsules. Or at least I always get that.

But the most I have ever got from one is 500cr. But I wonder if anyone else has experienced the same.
