Couple questions

Post by pichon64 »

Hi everyone at this forum. I'm an old Elite player from Uruguay (ex-Speccy 128 owner) and now I'm taking my chance into Oolite. I'm using the PC version (Win Vista).

1) I'm sort of colour blinded: is there any chance of changing the radar's colour dots to letters or numbers?
2) Any chance of playing looking at my ship like 3rd person? You know, the ship in front of me and still seeing the HUD.

I'm wondering if there's a mod, oxp or just a script change to achieve these two. Thanks in advance!

Hi pichon64 and welcome… in flight, if you press the ‘V’ key, you can cycle through various external views, and your hud will still be visible.

About your other question, I’m afraid I have no idea.
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

Hi and welcome.

Unfortunately we cannot change the colors to other symbols on the scanner at this time. This is a request that we can consider post-stable, though.

As for the second question, you can press the "v" key to switch to external views. Repeatedly pressing "v" will take you to a different external view and the scanner continues to be on so what you want is doable. Be aware that it is very difficult playing like this though, because you cannot target things properly.

Good point, Admiral... I should've thought of that.

Thanks... maybe mixing this with some kind of automatic targeting... I think I saw something like this as an add-on. Anyway, thanks again. I'm a lot influenced by Starlancer...

Welcome Pichon64!

If you have any special requests in the future I might be able to help you. Check out my pie chart style HUDS(download from my signature). There are large sized triangle and pie shaped gauges that stand out. If you are color-blind you might find these easier to use(but be advised, they have a different kind of look to them). Another possibility(for the future) are numeric and needle gauges. I'm currently building these(already have a working numeric gauge). These 2 types should be WAY easier to see without color. Check out the expansion pack forum for future updates on these.

If you have any other questions just ask and lots of FRIENDLY :D members will gladly help you out.
Take an idea from one person and twist or modify it in a different way as a return suggestion so another person can see a part of it that can apply to the oxp they are working on.
