What would it be like to have taxes in Oolite? You would have to pay a certain amount of money when you bring in cargo...and it would make secret compartments even more fun.
Also, with witchspace jumps, shouldn't you have a certain place where you can jump from? In the Dark Wheel, they have to witch-space jump at a certain place...I think.
What do you think?
Taxes?...and more

Taxes are an interesting idea!
<clears throat>
The Dark Wheel is set rather before the time in which Elite is set. Advances in computer navigation have made the transit points obsolete. The staff of the Faraway matrix have been reassigned to other duties within the station authority's domain.
Thank you.
PS It would also add another long trip into the game, which could make it a bit boring... It already takes long enough to get to a station from the witchpoint without having to do the journey on the way out as well...

Okay then, forget I said anything about Witchspace jumping...
But what do you think of taxes? For new players who are selling food and textiles, they wouldn't have to pay much more...But people bringing in gold or other items of value (or have an anaconda stuffed with goods) will have to pay much more.
