Is this an adaptation of one of those 'flashy' textures?

Dear AH
It is an adaption from a texture that I took from the existing version of the Threat OXP - and, along with that texture, I took the shader from that version of the OXP too. So, in short, the answer is, I think: yes.

Hmm... aren't you are a formal one.
I tried with Thargorn to stay as close to the game standard as possible, so I just remapped the standard thargoid.png skin to fit the new craft ...
('cause I didn't much like the oscillating animation of the shader example texture variant, I did put in the shaders -I think- commented out.)
... several OXP authors have since been keeping my OXPs up to date with current developments, so all is possible there.
(I think Kaks and Charlie mostly)

Oh, and don't forget to create a page/add to the shiplist/oxplist on the wOoki!

I am a bit formal, yes!
Re the ship page: oh yes, I suppose I should. (More work!) But I have already put the OXP on the wiki list of OXPs - (though) under the 'in development' section.
