Teleportation?
Ok, maybe I'm too old-fashioned, but this sounds pretty iffy to me..

And in any case, "If they gotta take me apart to get me there, then I don't wanna go!"

Re: Teleportation?
Hmm ... it looks like a variation on the sort of quantum teleportation they've been doing for several years now (if you look back at the older news stories, they all reference Star Trek and around 90% use Einstein's quote about "spooky action at a distance"). It's a slightly more elaborate and high-tech version of:
1. Get a pair of gloves.
2. Randomly, and blindly, put one glove in one envelope and the other glove in another envelope.
3. Post one envelope (containing "glove A") to someone else.
4. Destroy the other envelope and the glove it contains ("glove B"). No peeking!
5. When the first envelope arrives at its destination, the recipient will be able to use the information contained in glove A to reconstruct glove B.
It's not quite Star Trek yet, but it's getting close to "glove me up, Scotty!"

Buying a new pair will in most cases be more useful, and less expensive.Smivs wrote:This will be really useful next time i get a hole in my rubber gloves!

Re: Teleportation?
Obviously, this technique only works for knitted gloves.

Yes, it's quantum entanglement ... something to do with string theory, probably.CheeseRedux wrote:Obviously, this technique only works for knitted gloves.
Re: Teleportation?
Mmmm... knitted strings to the Missus... very hot in theory ...
...and keep it under lightspeed!

.. and it almost goes without saying.. That if you're a feline and you find yourself in the Schrodinger household... RUN!

Re: Teleportation?
Actually that's only true if you find yourself in Schrödinger's brain. It's a thought experiment, after all (a tiny piece of information which was missing from the article, I think).Ganelon wrote:.. and it almost goes without saying.. Sorry it must be a trick... The daily mail doing a science article, it's just too implausible to be true.Ganelon wrote:Ok, maybe I'm too old-fashioned, but this sounds pretty iffy to me..

We will not know until that venerated publication tells us first hand, how much we must fear or hope.Disembodied wrote:Schrödinger's cat causes/cures cancer?ClymAngus wrote:Sorry it must be a trick... The daily mail doing a science article, it's just too implausible to be true.
