This is my 6400th post. Which would make me Elite, if the board ranks would follow the in-game ranking system.
I can't believe how I got here (must be some sort of April fool's thing).

<Bows>
Well done that man - your dedication to the cause, usefulness, helpfulness, OX*ing is (should be) an inspiration to the rest of the BB.
(And given by the time I looked, you were on your 6402th post - that explains how you got where you are!)

That's quite a tally, McLane...well done!
As you're not one to hold back
I wonder if you'd calculated how many words you've typed here?

Impressive. Right on Commander.
I do believe the frequent users of the bb are fully aware of how you got there. Can't be many you haven't given a helping hand at one time or the other.

Ahh... that would make an excellent ship decal... if only the pink ice-cream was purple, which is by far the best colour.
Something that I've always wondered about... why is it 6400 hits for Elite rank? Deadly and Elite don't follow the same pattern as all the other ranks.
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

Good question...

Thanks, everybody, with a special thanks for the ice cream! I love ice cream! (Any chance I could switch one of the flavours for chocolate?
)
As for the Elite rank: I believe Oolite's thresholds follow one of the 8-bit Elite schemes, of which there were more than one.
Perhaps it was felt that the natural progression (256 for dangerous, 512 for deadly, 1024 for Elite) wouldn't be steep and challenging enough?

I can't remember if it was 6400 in BBC Elite... I know it was less in Elite Plus.

6400 was the score for the C64 too.
6400 is an odd number from a storage/memory point of view. I'm guessing it somehow relates to (512+128) x 10, but that's 10 bits + 8 bits + 4 bits, is is far less efficient than 13 bits to store up to 8191 kills...
