Re: What's your combat rating?
Average(40). Ferrying goods between Ensoreus, Isinor, and Qutiri. No longer avoiding space lanes on later two systems. Very profitable with numerous opportunities for advancement in rank. Last trip to Qutiri met three groups of rouges that were dispatched fairly easily. Back to Isinor, aided the GalCop having trouble with fugitive piloting a sidewinder scout ship. Favourite attack plan (same as most good pilots) is evasive maneuvers toward the pirates, get behind them and send them to oblivion. Excellent fun this!

Re: What's your combat rating?
At the moment I'm almost at Competent, just started using the space lanes. So I expect I'll be getting more kills pretty quick from now on.

Hi and welcome CaptSolo.
Deep Space Pirates OXP adds pirates and asteroids outside the normal space lanes so best to not put that in your Add ons just yet

There is however a noticeable gap between the space lane and Deep Space Pirates.

Re: What's your combat rating?
The only Add Ons I tested so far were replacement HUD's but there was some one thing about each of them I did not like. I prefer the larger transparent threat display of the default HUD. The Fighter HUD was nice, but ruined IMHO by the small threat display on a green background.TGHC wrote:Hi and welcome CaptSolo.

You're probably wise...it's far too easy to load lots of OXPs and then you're never sure which one is doing what! Best to start with some eye-candy and add then others as you see fit. A full table of OXPs can be found here.

Re: What's your combat rating?
Above Average. Been station bound for a couple days. I've tested a fair number of OXP's and removed all except deepspaceship.oxp and the humourous (and harmless) personalities.oxp. Would be nice to have a few more characters in there.
As for HUD's, my old eyes prefer the standard one. I tried making my own. Spent a couple hours designing the console for Images folder and a modified hud.plist in Config but could never get it to show in the game. Log file spits out a parse error. I may give it another go sometime
Yes, it's ugly, but its a first one.
Time to head out of the station now.

You're invited to become a character in there as well.CaptSolo wrote:Above Average. Been station bound for a couple days. Dangerous (1488) and going for Deadly - where I last made it in Elite (1984). Currently doing well as a "competent Judge" and find this OXP the best way to make it up the levels.

Re: What's your combat rating?
Hello to all!
In Oolite my best rating is "competent" (128). I am flying a python and I´m currently working as a trader.
The Best rating I ever had in ELITE was "dangerous"... ... more than 25 years ago on a C64.

Hi Captain Beatnik and welcome. Love the sig... DA is massively respected on this forum.

Half way to "Dangerous" now. Visiting more dangerous places too because, just as it was with the original Elite, I do enjoy combat. Been blown to bits too; more times than I care to count. "It's very cold in space."

Currently rated Dangerous with 585 kills
Technique: As I walk in the mocassins of the MonsterSlayer with Power, I look for taletell fights as I warp in to an Anarchy or Feudal planet. I then identify a combatant and go full tilt.. at 10km will fire a burst to get his attention.. once he turns into me... I hold off until 1km then shred him with my mil laser head to head.. If one should try to sneak in behind... my rear mil laser will shred him as I drop to green acceleration. Most of my fighting is done just as my acceleration turns yellow with bursts to catch fleeing enemies. Once , all is defeated, I will collect until my bays are fulll, then to off with a skim if low from all the bursting. then I count coup and go to the station to trade off my goods and celebrate.
