Damn, guess that's what happens when you spend all of 5 seconds trying out mouse control...Ahruman wrote:right-click immediately recentres the “virtual joystick”.
How about a controller poll...?

XBox controller on One of These
Almost every function I need can be assigned to a button.
It works equally well when I'm using Linux or Windows.

Oolite - Reason enough to change to Linux.
Hmm, when I hit Shift-M it says 'Mouse control ON' but I can't do anything. Left-click fires but moving the mouse has no effect at all, is this a bug???TedJ wrote:Yah, it's undocumented but it's there. Just hit Shift-M during flight. It's OK (and good for aiming) but I always have trouble returning to level flight.
@TedJ: Have a good Australia Day, good to see another Aussie here!
I was in fullscreen mode, but the funny thing is it works now! It definitely wasn't working before though. I can't remember if I tested it after upgrading to rc3, I thought I did but maybe I didn't. Strange, I think I'll start using mouse mode so I'll let you know if it stops working again.winston wrote:Are you in full screen mode?Galileo wrote:No, nothing happens whatsoever, no matter what way I move the mouse. The only thing that does anything is left-click.
EDIT: Not working again, it seems that it works every few times I run oolite and won't work the rest of the time. All except left-click that is, it just acts as though it hasn't grabbed hold of the mouse (like I was in windowed mode). Console doesn't say anything about it. I'm running in Mandrake 2006 with KDE (although changing desktops does nothing).

[I recently bought a Competition Pro Joystick with USB connector.
Plugged it into my Mac, started USB Override and am now playing
Oolite with a good old Competition pro!]
Is that right? Thanks so much; I'd nosed around the web and had found nothing in a joystick which seemed to come well recommended. I'll look for the Competition Pro.

Oolite? Is that like Bud Lite?
You should be able to get at least basic functionality from virtually any modern USB joystick... The only thing that you'll probably not get working is force feedback/rumble support, so I wouldn't spend any money on them. OS X's USB HID support is quite robust.FlyingBlind wrote:Is that right? You may also want to consider the Logitech Attack3 or the Saitek Cyborg Evo. I own the Attack3 and it's alright for the money, but I've read complaints regarding durability (cost me $30 AUD so not too fussed). Virtually everyone I know with a Saitek raves about them... BTW, both the sticks I've mentioned are for right or left handed use - an important consideration for all us unco lefties out there.
I'm not planning to buy one, but if that were implemented, I surely would! The only thing that you'll probably not get working is force feedback/rumble support, so I wouldn't spend any money on them.
(Imagines the shuddering a missile launch causes, afterburners, and of course impacts...Aglglglglglllll...Drools)
