Is that the Toughguy OXP? That looks like quite a fight waiting to happen. Also, you are right about me being poor, I have been running from a corporate to an anarchy to make my cash. Can't even afford a military laser yet! (Figured the shield booster would be more useful.) Oh well.

Hi OotL... yeah, I'm running a test of ToughGuys2, though that has no bearing on the amount of ships there. It's not just the pirates that are harder in TG2... those Cobra Mk I escorts are toughened, as are the Boas and Boa 2s. I think there were nineteen ships there... could've been quite a scrap, if a few pirates had got in amongst them.

Twice in Elite, thrice in Elite+… and now in Oolite, and this one is by far the most satisfying. I took my time and made it a long, leisurely cruise, meandering my way through three and a half circuits, over two shipyears, exploring nearly every backwater of the eight. Some game… many thanks to all involved.
I can't believe no-one has said "Right On Commander"!!

The game said it for everyone, but thanks Selezen.

I was in deep mierda here... two Boa Pitbull Pirates and their six Cobra Mk I escorts, all toughened... I didn't last too long.

That shot appears to have gone right through you - I thought collision detection would have cut that off at point of interception...

However it looks pretty bloody cool - photoshop in a few explosions and some hull debris...

El Viejo, I hope this last one was not made using the newest trunk. I thought we had squashed the beam-trhough-ships bug.

Don't worry a_c... it was 1.74.2.

Are you sure? I can't remember seeing this in 1.74. And in trunk the new bug was only present for about a week. (last week)

Although I never saw it, in 1.74 it was probably possible for escorts to shoot through their mother while aiming at a ship behind the mother. But that would be rare and very difficult to capture in a screen shot.

Excellent captured. The more I look at it, the more I see in it. All kind of details you never see in flight. I probably must hit the pause key more often and watch my screen. :P

Definitely 1.74.2 Eric... I haven't figured-out how to remove the green 'Dev version' message at top right in trunk... yet. That pic was one of many taken in series... at times I had five or six beams hitting me. It's bloody difficult flying a ship from that view angle, especially in a firefight.

That's truly awesome EV...beautiful shot.
I've never tried external-view shots during a firefight....firstly I should get the 'camera' on something more convenient than shift-8.

I do remember having fun getting some of the close-up screenshots for the release of Smivs'Shipset. I used an Asp as the camera ship, and my preferred method was to aim at the 'photographic model', hit the injectors and try to get the shot before the collision

If it had been that bug, there would be an impact flash. I suspect he flew into the beam after it had been fired (beams only do collision detection once).

I changed mine to 'b', but be wary... If you hit 'b' while paused, all sorts of collision data gets put in the log... reams of it.
The 'stick cam in 1.75 will be great... but it leaves me one button short on the 'stick itself (rather than on the base).

@ Ahruman... I was flying through a maze of beams, so yeah, I must have flown into it.

You cannot remove it, it is deliberately there to let us know that an unofficial trunk build is being used and the actual version of it.

If you definitely want it out, the only ways to get rid of it is clip the image at the top or replace the characters of the message with whitespace by editing the executable with a hex-editor (Notepad++ can do this, by the way).
