I am back... After 2-3 years

Post by Makandal »

Hi !
I was on this forum some years ago and left. I am back. I suggested to include in the F7 a picture of the surface of the planet and, as I have few skills in 3D landscaping, I started to draw some. I still have about 25 different planets. If anyone is interested....

Else, basically, I am geologist working in West Africa. I started to play Elite in the 80's. Immediatly loved the game, especially the tough landing on the station. That was only wireframe but gosh, we dreamed...
I created also a couple of games, mainly adventure, strategy and RPG, all sold in french speaking countries and Germany in the 80's (ah ! ZX81, Spectrum and Amstrad...).

Clym & Angus, astrocartographers of renown, resorting to cold-selling... tsk, tsk!
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills

Welcome back. You'll never be lost here!
I've only been here for just over a year and things have changed beyond recognition in that short time. You'll enjoy catching up, I'm sure.
Cheers,

Cold selling? Cold giving away, I'll have you know!
The man doesn't want to go traipsing through 101 wiki's to get some immediate oolite joy!

Anyway what's the beef? I believe your name is on one or two, as my father used to say if you don't blow your own trumpet no one else is going to blow it for you.

Don't worry, one never forgets the traps of the Ooniverse.
One never forgets his first meeting with a Thargoid warship
One never forgets the road to Ceesxe
One never forgets how to shoot a Python after a cold beer
Elite or Oolite, it's like riding bicycle, swimming or making love.
You did it once but you never forget it.

Beautiful work, the style reminds me of a fractal world builder (landscape and clouds) I used to run (very very slowly) on my Amiga A500... (the name I forget)

Have you read the novel of that name by Thomas Pynchon? A very good read.

These are excellent. Did you download Famous Planets? More descriptions to let your imagination go wild. I hope we can have pics of the surface in the F7 screen one day.

And welcome back!
