[Solved] Game crash - maybe military fiasco related

Post by gizmo »

Recently the game often "crashes" (the window is destroyed) without anything recorded in the logs (neither game nor system logs).
I suspect that it is related to the military fiasco OXP, as it usually happens when I'm just about to kill a Hydra or Basilisk.

I'm running Oolite 1.74.2 on top of Ubuntu 10.04.

Any ideas where to search / what to do to fix the problem are welcome.

Edit:
after some more crashes I have the impression that the crash is related to the joystick precision mode

After disabling the joystick everything is fine.
After disabling Military Fiasco and enabling the joystick everything is fine as well.

Can you recreate the problem in a nightly?

When it is Hydra or Basilisk related, it could be related to a timer in the subentities that are shot of. Although I thought that any problems with that were fixed in 1.74. Try this script that explicit deletes the timer on subentity death. It replaces the current file in military fiascos script folder. And as Ahruman writes, it would be good to also check your promlem against the latest nighty. That version is 3/4 year newer than 1.74.2 and any problem might already be fixed there.

The modified script didn't help so next I'll try a trunk build.
