Could this OxP be made so that Behemoths also offer missions.

Then you have the option to go on a mission if you have a random Behemoth Encounter and you feel more 'attached' to the ship you land on.
Ooh, nice idea! Maybe even one which takes you to deep space for a tussle with the bugs. Something like:
Greetings, Commander! Good to see you. We're just warming up the drives for an assault on the bugs: care to come along for the ride?
If the player says no, then they're kicked out pretty swift back into the previous system. If they agree, though, there's another message detailing all the preparations for the jump, then
SCRAMBLE! We have enemy ships on an intercept vector. All pilots, go, go go!
and the player gets launched out, fully fuelled, into interstellar space, with the Behemoth and some buddies, to face an unspecified quantity of the Green Peril ... after the battle is over, the player has to dock with the Behemoth to get the reward and to jump back again. If the Behemoth is destroyed they player can (if they haven't gone nuts with the injectors) still jump out themselves, but there's no reward for taking part in a losing engagement.

I like that. Could be really cinematic if there is some BSG like music behind it in combination with a scramble sound. And a really nice mission screen. You could take this idea really further and become one of the crew members of a Behemoth. Defending it at all costs.

It would be awesome to have a mod derived from GalNavy, where you sign up for a "tour of duty" on a Behemoth.

Not seen many mods where you are associated with a "base" or ship. It might be tricky to represent the ship's
travels between stars with the player on board. Unless your ship is based in a system and you move around
to meet up with it for missions (it randomly jumps while you are elsewhere)...Could be a very neat mod!

Medals, promotions, glory and bug battles! What more could be asked for...It would be like Wing Commander.

Only more awesome because it is Oolite! :D

Don't tease me! A tour of six months on a Behemoth with a ranking system and such?

I want it!

*EDIT*

Hmm... a mighty familiar looking Sig you have there...

Dude, we are on the same frequency! A carrier tour mod (with random tours that can be done again and again) Would be heaven!

And yes, your sig inspired me! Perhaps we could inspire others to do this! :D

Would be terribly fun. I'm not sure how the details would work exactly however. For instance, would the game place the Behemoth way out in the middle of nowhere, so that the spawned pirates/Thargoids don't disrupt a system? I'm not sure how coding works and all of that, but it would be very cool if someone converted that wingmen OXP into a wing of fighters that followed you around once you reached a certain rank.

Could be some very fun stuff. :)

Unfortunately the coding is way above my head (and time) so I'll just have to imagine. Or... load up wing-commander.

(As for the sig thats a neat idea, have everyone put info on what they are doing in the Ooniverse. As well as seeing who's dangerous and who's ELITE. Original credit goes to Smiv tho, as I stole it from him, and I have an inkling that he stole it from someone else.)

Yep, I borrowed the idea from JazHaz. Credit where it's due.

Interstellar space sure seems crowded now.
Almost every time I visit there, there's typically 10-20 NPC ships already there -- mostly Thargoids.
Are Thargoid battleships supposed to be a common type to encounter?
...And are Behemoths now extremely rare in interstellar space? (I haven't seen one there in many, many jumps.)

If you have the appropriate OXP installed (I think Thargoid Threat), yes (about as common as any other Thargoid ship, but battleships come with escorts, so they increase the total number of Thargoid ships).

Perhaps you have de-installed the OXP accidentally (or an error prevents it from working)? I am only rarely visiting interstellar space these days, but when I do, I always see Thargoids and Behemoths.

BehemothSpacewar 1.2.3.oxp is installed but Thargoid Threat is not.

Hi,

Been talking with Eric Walch & he suggested I pm you. Couldn't get my head round that so here is a link to the forum discussion:

Nice OXP BTW!

It's not so hard. Just find a post of his (any post will do), and click on the conveniently placed "PM" button below. From then on it's just like writing an ordinary post.

I had my first encounter with Rogue Frigate. Sure it blasted GalCop Vipers left, right and center, but plasma balls are... little inaccurate against player controlled ship. And such big target is easy pickings for military laser outside effective plasma range. So how about replacing half of the plasma weapons with lasers? Beamers maybe?
