Flash Light Glow Laser Effect Cockpit

Post by sqwer »

Hallo,

i build some ships and cockpits, some is finish.

1.
but now i have some questions, i want put some little litle flash lights in the cockpit, for instrumental view, and i resize the flashys very small, i have some bugs.

the importents is , when i fly, the flashlights are jump in circle around the writing x,y position, very chaotic.
all the time, but if i resize the flashys small you can see it better.
if i not fly and rest in space = no problem, they are calm.

and yes, if i look from externel view = no problem
but from the Hud (ego) this problems are there ...

what s happen

2.
i see some video's on youtube, with a diffrent laser effect ... now anybody how works this via scripting or where i can download the oxp ?

Welcome sqwer.

I can't help with the "flashlights" - but the video on YouTube to which you refer are two big ships battling it out with Turret mounted Plasma Cannons - not lasers - they're big, slow, short range and inaccurate, which is why they're used (usually) on just the big ships.

Re: Flashlights - do you mean you're putting "FLASHERS" as in ship sub-entities inside the cockpit view? If you are somehow doing this, I just thought you should know that Flashers don't actually generate any actual lighting/illumination effects.

Actually, they’re missiles with flashers on. Ask Frame about the details. :-)

thx DaddyHoggy for info,

1.
yes i see ... Flashers don't actually generate any actual lighting / blending...
but gives some generate lighting effect's that i can use ? the sun ? the ingame lighting ?
i think that would be blending me ...

the end of the idea is, that some warnings gives light effects inside the cockpit, and for the first for better look.

but why the flashys so chaotic.

2.
ok i would check it ....

thx for answers all

That's a very small picture - not sure what you want us to see on it!

Frame designed the big capital ships you saw in the video (and shot the video) - he's unlikely to be able to help with the "Flashlight" problem.

So that red flasher over the crosshair is one you've added? And when you move, it moves?

i hope somebody find the answer,

here is a good Gif animation for my Problem :

<string>*FLASHER* 0 0 2 0 0 0 0.01</string>
http://www.freeimagehosting.net/uploads/126a3ac359.gif

<string>*FLASHER* 0 0 2 0 0 0 0.08</string>
http://www.freeimagehosting.net/uploads/8b92e59508.gif

Yes, when i move, and when i stand still = the Flashlight stand also calm ...hm

ok, its the same with the Plumb/Exhaust
<string>-0.0 0.0 -0.0 0.1 0.1 0.1</string>
http://www.freeimagehosting.net/uploads/db07e6a5c7.gif
( if Pic's small , strg/Mousewheel to zoom )

I think it's the Physical/Engine of Oolite, by reduce the Size of Lighteffects ... i don't know

so i make some other stuff, waiting, textured and work around the cockpits ...

thx

I'm sure that'll help somebody who understands how the code deals with the precision placement of the flashers to help diagnose your issue - interesting idea!
