But I feel even more guilty for not having time to read Torn now (wife not well, plus stressed as her 40th b'day celebrations approach).drew wrote:Finished the outline plot for this today- came together surprisingly easily. Will flesh out some more details in the next few days. Major parts for Daddyhoggy, Coyote, Derik, Shulth and Blaze O' Glory so far. I'm looking at Cmdrs Cheyd and Myy'q next. (Maik - need a bio on Myy'q please!)
Can't wait to get writing this one, I think it's going to be a cracking story.
Cheers,
Drew.

Incursio - Updated 12/1/11
Ok folks,
Progress is being made. Prologue complete and well into Chapter one.
I've got all the bio's, characters and ship info. I've researched Rise of the Kirin and all the other bits of fiction I can find for description etc of characters etc.
Question. Do in game characters want to reserve the right to edit their prose in the story?
Maik's already told me he's not bothered and I'm doing my best to copy mannerisms from the other stories for folks like Coyote, Derik et al.
The reason for asking is that sending out the story in bits for multiple authors to review will seriously slow down the writing and obviously those folks will get spoilers at the same time.
I'm easy either way, but I'm more inclined to finish writing the thing as a whole and then submit it to the 'characters' for comments (so at least they enjoy the story end to end) and then perhaps do a quick revision based on feedback.
Or if you're happy just to go with the flow... (I'll paying it close attention to ensure the characters 'feel' right)
What say you?
Cheers,
Drew.

I'll trust you on this one! Besides, if they feature, then I don't know how my characters will handle the situation you put them in (yet) because I haven't written it! So do what you need to sir, with my blessing.

What DH says!
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

You see I have bad experiences of letting ideas to other people. It's not that I don't trust you implicitly (which I do) but having about 5 or 6 things screwed over turns you into a bit of a paranoid pineapple. I know this sounds a little needy after so many people have said "go baby go!" but if I could give it a quick once over (just Udians bits, just for my own sanity) then that would be cool.
I may need to drop a couple of fore refs in there

Heh heh, no worries Clym.
I think I'd have the same concerns as you. I'll be keeping Udian's dialogue thin but meaningful, if you get my drift, as he doesn't strike me as the most loqacious type.
What I'll do at the end of each chapter is extract the necessary dialogue for you with a quick presie of the scene dynamics - whack it into a PM for your delectation. Hopefully that won't spoil the story for you.
Ok?
Cheers,
Drew.

Feel free. The character/voice of Cmd. Cheyd has never been expressed here, merely my RL persona translated to text. And I don't know that Cheyd fully translates from his origin to Oolite anyways, so by all means - flesh him out as you see fit, sir.
