Missiles prematurely detonating

Post by TedJ »

I'm currently running the linux 1.62rc2 build and I've notice that some ships have a problem where launched missiles detonate immediately... It's not ECM, since the missile in question is hardened. The Llama I was flying is especially prone to this... perhaps something to do with Gile's missile rewrites? I vaguely remember something about bounding boxes. :?

Yes, there were some collision problems.

The fix in v1.62 is that missiles are thrown further from their ship when launched.

I'm going to overhaul the colision detection code again in v1.63 to permit launches from concave parts of models without collisions.

FWIW, removing the launch position data from the Llama and just relying on the game's default settings seems to have fixed this for that ship.
And so I gave myself to God. There was a pregnant pause before He said "OK"
