I don't know how useful/active this website is but I stumbled across it yesterday when investigating the logs of my own website:
http://www.botscout.com

Essentially, it's a database of known spam bots. I guess it's not that useful if these are actual humans registering. Anyway, thought I'd post a link.

EDIT: here's another one that a quick Google search just revealed:

... and while I'm in an uncharitable mood, I think this is a spammer too. There are a very large number of "sumaniuot" memberships out there in forumland, and nearly all of them are single-post, "Hi, I'm new here" types.

Interestingly, I see it tried to edit its one and only post here (dated 25 October) on 9 November – presumably to try to add a link.

Hi Darkbee… SFS is already well used here, but the other link may be helpful… thanks.

Uncharitable on St Andrew's Day, Disembodied... who'd have thought it.
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

To be honest, without Google reminding me I wouldn't have remembered. Not a big deal up here!

I'm now 100% certain that "sumaniuot" is a spambot, though.

Agreed... it's dead!

Back again ... although now I'm having doubts. The name makes me massively suspicious but there are various forums around the place that carry posts from a person/people using the same name, e.g. here. Although most, if not all, seem to be about finance in some respect, they don't seem to be your typical spambot output. I leave it to DH and EV to decide: that's why they get paid the big bucks. ;)

Sshh… don’t tell them that.

A tricky one this… as Disembodied says, the name screams ‘spammer’, but there’s no actual evidence, as such. He/she/it is a member on another game forum (the exception from the other forums, which are all financial), but has made no posts, in over a year. A few posts show some knowledge of Linux… even the IP address is clean, according to SFS. Still… I have to agree with DH, I think. If you’re reading this, tradetaxfree, don’t be offended… come talk to us (or e-mail me in my sig).

On another board, we often just PM suspicious new members, it's working pretty well. Spambots just never reply! ;)
