What version of Windows? How fast is your processor? How much RAM do you have?

Do you have any other programs in memory, especially anti-virus systems?

Look at the stderr.txt file (C:\Program Files\Oolite\stderr.txt) - what are the last four lines?

@all:
If you are posting issues with the windows build, please give as much detail as possible. I've tried this on about 6 seperate machines right now. All worked absolutely fine. (I think all of them were XP SP2 however, so not the best test, but still, it means bug tracking is hard for me to do)

Changing jobs and moving to London, I might be quiet on here for a while.

Cheers,
-Nic

Perhaps when you get to London and settled in, it'll be time for another Oolite London Meet. I'll try and drag myself over the water for the next one (I have some friends there I can stay with).

Looks like it's bombing on loading a texture or textures.

Code: Select all

Loading IMG
NSBitmapImageRep initWithFocusedViewRect: failed
Are there any issues with Oolite on AMD 64 chips?

The rest of the system looks fine.

None are known on Linux (for both 64-bit Oolite executables and 32-bit ones).

Just installed and ran this autoinstaller. Much better than typing in that orrible GNU-step commandprompt line. :D

...and crashed my ship into the dock, because of slowdowns or delays or whatever, (ack, ack..........BANG!)
while running 2 ms-IE windows, 1 systemfolder, emule, mediaplayer and 2 virusscanner/firewalls in the background.
I may have to close a few applications before trying the Lave-Reorte milkrun again. Also a system reboot may clear some of that gunk out of the Mem-banks. ;)

edit: still has the F11-> text=blocks problem

Now for the OXP's.

Actually, I meant to update on this the other day. I was testing the Capisastra addon. I had removed all the other OXPs and was only running with the Cap and the Courier installed. I flew into battle with a fleet of Caps and the slowdown I reported before happened again.

Note that my game progress thus far had been to launch from the station, hyperspace to a system and start fighting. My testing planetinfo dumped 7 Caps around the jump point, so I hadn't even encountered anything else.

When the game froze, I opened the task manager and there was a fully charged memory bank - 1150Mb out of 1300Mb

There would appear to be a few memory leaks?

Runs smoothly without emule, (which is a cpu/memory hog.)

Probably AI-issues with 1.60, but....

-just saw a succesion of cobra1's exit and loop round only to collide with station.
I suspect they were scavengers launched by station, as there was junk around.
Either they go 'intercept-junk' too soon after launch or their scanner range is smaller than the station's and they cannot find any loot (ergo: dock).

-Also a viper interceptor launched from station (that I shot at) only tio hang idle in space halfway to the buoy. shooting it did nothing, it just died.
edit: also happens with sidewinder scoutships.

-Station-safezone icon not displayed in hud.

(ps got to check where to put my OXP's, they don't work right now.
edit: somebody help, I can't find the right place for the stuff)

@Arexack_Heretic: c:\program files\Oolite\AddOns I think is the directory (That is if you installed to c:\program files\Oolite)

1.61 and 1.62 are greatly improved (stability wise) over 1.60 - you really need to rebuild from source. In particular, a serious AI memory leak looks like it was fixed in 1.61.

what is up with the updates to newer versions?

I'm assuming that for the ports, you will have to rebuild it (from 1^2)everytime Giles comes out with a new version?

edit: whaaaaa! Oolite exception missing model gecko.dat...followed by something about all the oxps. well at least it does something :/
ed2: Nevermind it was just an invalid reference I made in a OXP in dev.
ed3: naw!

Code: Select all
