Contract screen bug

I have noticed just recently that I am dropping off passengers (not yet noticed it for cargo) but no "XXX thanks you" screen appears. I end up with an empty passenger berth and I think the contract reputation counter is adjusted (I did a check at one point and it went from 6 completed and 1 unknown to 7 completed and 0 unknown after docking and this problem occurred). I do not know if the credits get adjusted, haven't yet remembered to check the credits before and after docking. It all gets a bit complicated to do that, though, with the captured pirates and so on. It seems to be that another screen such as "you don't like slave hunters" comes up and prevents the contract fulfilment screen appearing. If I haven't picked up any slave hunters (not the only thing that causes it, though) then the screen appears okay. I don't think I got this until recently; I slowly add in OXPs but can't easily correlate the behaviour to any specific add-on. The last ones I added were cargo wreck teaser, snoopers and total patrol. The latest log is at the end of the message. Cheers! Richard.

Hello Richard,

I am sure, the rewards are paid properly and it is only the message that is lost.

The slave-hunter message comes from a scripted pilot in ups-courier. It used to work correct in 1.65 and even in 1.73. I thought I tested it in a pre version of 1.74.

It could be that Oolite gets confused because this are mission screens that run before the report screens

Bug confirmed. Since 1.74 is the report screen not displayed when there was also a pilot with a script setting up a mission page. It is definitely only the page display that was skipped. All the rewards etc were given.

The way the triggering of a report screen was implemented in the code was asking for bugs. I now made it part of the current missionscreen opportunity code. On my first tests it seems to work again as before 1.74. It should be more future bug proof now. :roll: (I hope)

Thanks for having a look! Just a cosmetic thing, at least. Hard to judge whether to bother sending a message sometimes; I get that at work, half the time I feel I'm just being annoying, most of the rest fo the time the software development guys have no idea what's going on, but it's that 10% or so of the time when it scores a big hit and alerts them to a major problem. As before, thanks again for all the hard work on this - Elite always was a good game and this whole Oolite project is excellent. Just annoying that my employers won't let me install it on the lovely laptop they just bought me . . .

Hard to judge whether to bother sending a message sometimes; I get that at work, half the time I feel I'm just being annoying, most of the rest fo the time the software development guys have no idea what's going on, but it's that 10% or so of the time when it scores a big hit and alerts them to a major problem. As before, thanks again for all the hard work on this - Elite always was a good game and this whole Oolite project is excellent. Just annoying that my employers won't let me install it on the lovely laptop they just bought me . . .
If you can install it somewhere else that runs the same OS - you can then copy the entire Oolite directory structure to a memory stick and run it from there. Oolite doesn't actually need to be installed.

One thing I considered earlier today was that a "mission" might not get offered. I've been in G6 for a while and the UPS mission where a poorly-brainwashed slave wants to get back to Bierbe (or whatever it is) seems to correlate with picking up a cargo pod which gets the message "revolting slave". I spotted that phrase for sure the last time I had to do that particular run. Earlier today I picked up a revolting slave but on docking I got one of these "you don't like slave hunters" pages - I think it was that - but did not get a message from UPS asking me to drop the slave off. So maybe it's more of a problem than I thought. Cheers

I think I got this problem again but am posting to figure out what I missed. I picked up a message from an Anaconda, I think, to deliver some documents/parcels to the station. I went alongside, picked up the whatever-they-were, I didn't get any message about receiving gems or anything, the Anaconda hyperspaced out and I went to the station. I got a "don't like slave-hunters" message and that was it, no other message. I must have missed something - any ideas? Thanks.

I discovered that the systems on the wrong side of the "rift" in Galaxy 7 almost never give any passenger or cargo contracts -- probably because they keep picking "impossible" destinations and silently dropping those. :(

It is the same bug as before. The "don't like slave-hunters" message is displayed on a missionscreen created by a pilot. Those pilot generated screens were generated before the report screens. The delivery message was on the skipped report screen. You only missed the message but got the -very low- reward.

Bug is fixed in trunk.
