Posting problem with BB

Post by Smivs »

Hi all,
Am I the only person having trouble posting to the BB today. I keep getting a time-out error shown, and most posts don't go through, although I did have one go through twice earlier.
Any Ideas?

Oolite.org seems to be down... has been for a while. Anybody else?
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

Just checked Oolite.org, and all seems well.

Also, no problems posting here since lunchtime.

Hmmm... now it gives this:

Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (11) in /var/www/index.php on line 9

It's still OK for me...just tried again using Opera and Firefox. No problems. Perhaps it's an ISP problem, 'cos the site seems fine. I'm with Virgin.

I likewise get a MySQL error message:

Maybe you're looking at a cached page Smivs? (cached at the ISP level or I suppose even at the browser level)

Nope. I used two browsers, both of which I have set to clear all info (eg cookies) on shutdown, and so today's visit is 'genuine'. I can switch from page to page suggesting it's not an ISP cache unless they've cached the whole site.
It is very slow, though, loading at about 3b per second! Perhaps it's everyone here trying it. :)

Then my guess would be that the server is overloaded, and that you're closer (Internet traffic wise) and so you get first dibs. That is to say, you get a timely response from the server but I don't. :(

Does it use shared hosting does anyone know?

It's hosted on http://www.binero.se/ , and yes, afaik it's a shared host thing...

PS: I'm in the same boat as Smivs - oolite.org, while horribly slow, isn't generating any errors for me either.
Hey, free OXPs: farsun v1.05 & tty v0.5! :0)

In my case the posts did get through, despite the time-out error shown. Which lead to a quadruple post  , because when seeing the error I tried again and again.

By the way, as the BB is not part of Oolite-the-game, this should be in Outworld, not Discussion.
