I have installed the System Redux expansion. The planets look really impressive, but I have noticed, that they change appearance.
If, for instance, I am on Ensoreus, and I watch the data for Ararus, this is what I see
After the jump, however, the planet looks different:
This seems to happen with all planets.
I searched for this bug in the forums, but couldn't find anything (which seems odd, so there probably is a post about it).
What can be done to fix the problem?
I am using Oolite v. 1.74.2 on Win 7 64bit (NVidia GeForce 310, 512 MB dedicated RAM)
System Redux - planets change appearance

Hi Jakob.
This is normal behaviour… until you are actually in the system, Oolite displays it’s own planet texture in F7.
Someone with better knowledge than me will be able to explain why… but it’s not a bug.

I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

I remember noticing this when I first installed it. There's a bit more information about it in some posts in this thread

Thanks Mauiby… that link refreshed my memory.
I’m hoping that System Redux 2, when CaptKev finishes it, will solve that little quirk.
I think that Cmd. Cheyd’s Deep Horizons already does this.

@El Viejo - The next iteration of DH-Systems will. I'm nearly done debugging the script currently. After that, I need to write the support materials and it should be ready for a 'beta' release.
@Jakob - The issue is caused by the script used by System Redux and the scripting features that were available at the time it was created. At that time, it was not possible to assign a texture to a planet in another system. So, SR only textures the planet once you are in that system. It literally does it when you either exit the main station (at game start) or upon exit from witchspace. In the intervening years since it was written and now, the devs created the ability to assign a texture to a remote planet. I'm sure Capt. Kev will update accordingly when he releases SR2.
