Mounting Plasma Cannons

I'm sure I've read this LOTS of times before, but is it possible to 'code' Plasma cannons on to the side laser mounts of a Boa Class Cruiser?

Or another ship that I can mount them on??

The Twin Plasma Cannons are currently disabled for the core ships (and for everything else as well), because they suck.

However, if you absolutely, positively want them, you have to modify either the shipyard.plist-entry of your current ship by inserting "EQ_WEAPON_TWIN_PLASMA_CANNON" into the "optional_equipment" array, or inserting

right behind the short description in Oolite's equipment.plist. (Please don't modify the original equipment.plist, but c&p it into your AddOns-folder first, and only modify the copy.)

You are certainly aware that the Twin Plasma Cannons (which suck) are not the same as the Plasma Turret (which tends to uberify your ship and cannot be mounted instead of a laser).

Which brings me to the question: which use do you have then for plasma cannons which are prohibitively less accurate and ridiculously more lame than a laser?
