Out of interest, has anyone ever read R L Stevenson's very short story The Persons of the Tale?
No, I'd never read that before. Fascinating... I suspect it’s always been that way for some authors.
I wonder if Homer had his fictional characters carrying on in this way… probably.
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

Interesting, I think because writing and the access to other peoples writing has become digitally insanely easy. We tend to forget that even when writing was limited more to the printed word, still the authors were human. As such they were bound by the same flights of fancy they were.

Heartening to know that we stand with literary giants, when it comes to the vanities of fiction.

(getting back to the idea) we need a villain so diabolical that they will give all the characters whatever their personal specialisations a serious run for their money. That's a tall order.

A rogue charged with such heinous crimes as:
- Pulling Derik's tail
- Washing Disembodied's brain
- Rubbing Hesperus the wrong way
- Stealing Viego's cigar, and guzzling all his eviljuice
- Eating McLane's pie
- Stealing Kak's favorite space suit, and Griff's pirate hat
- Breaking Drew's 24kt pen
- And doing indescribable things while dressed in Becca's replica Liah slavegirl bikini

What a cad.

A thoroughly despicable villain indeed!

Okay, the beastly malcontent also:
- Replaced DaddyHoggy's preening mirror with a funhouse mirror
- Defaced AC's screenshots with boyracer graffiti and "Kilroy wuz here"
- Threw Smiv's ship keycard into the dust of a desolate moon
- Uploaded deadly goat porn onto Winston's wiki backup server
- Tossed BBQ sauce onto Maik's edible poet
...All while being an utter eyesore in the pilfered slavegirl bikini.

I'm having way too much fun with this stuff. 8)

I guess that makes it clear that my home is actually on Rainte, Galaxy 5:

The world Rainte is fabled for its fabulous cuisine and the Rainteian edible poet.
While they are right about our cuisine (you've got to visit, seriously!), their information about government type is misinformed though. There was exactly one year where our clueless government mandated the use of prisoners on the fields during harvesting season instead of allowing us to get cheap labour from Diesdi. Those jail birds weren't too keen on working, production went way down, and there might have been the occasional brawl here or there, maybe there was a little riot, nothing major though, but come on, the media blew it way out of proportion. "Truth is, we don't know". Yada yada yada.

So you get those freshman students that are doing their first internship for the galactic chartering initiative visiting your world for a day in the midst of the mess that the government created, watching this unspeakable "investigative journalist" on TV interview one of the farming big wigs. He moans about "days of anarchy", his words are torn out of context and now we find ourselves classified as an anarchy. Brilliant.

Luckily, those days are over, we get cheap labour to work on our fields again, production returned to the levels it was at before, and our dear clients on Vetele pay premium prices for our Wines.

Okay, so your homeworld got listed as an Anarchy. In charts 1 and 2, that would be a bad thing, as it would keep startup traders away. However...
Chart 5 is crowded with Anarchies, and by the time your average starship commander gets there, he/she/it is rated at least Dangerous, and their ship is hard iron. As a plus, the hunter's guild does a booming business in chart 5, with lots of boom. When you have mercs willingly patrolling the system for pirates to gun down - and with GalCop paying them to do so - then who needs to pay a standing police force, eh?

True that... Some of us were hatched there! ;) You mammals and your internal nesting biology... Yeah. Nevermind.

You still had to travel to Lave for your academy ground schooling and exams, correct? Then you started in G1 like every other spacer.

Damn,

Feel like I missed the party! :?

I can't leave Rebecca (or Becca?) with a black mark on her reputation like that though...

Where's the girl when you need her?

Cheers,

Drew.

Udian Shulth scrapes by with a score of 32. Woot! Mainly due to his ruthlessness, tendency to mind rape people and that he's not a 12 year old manga character.
Derik gets only a 13. Due to being an ugly one-eyed despicable bastard with not enough sense of preservation to run from a fight? Charges right into brawls instead and damn the torpedoes, the nit.
And he's not Japanese.
Didn't spot this one until just now... :?

Oh well. Rebecca comes out as a 19, mostly on account that she's not a vampire, judging by the questionaire.

She looses out because I killed her family, she's a good pilot and she's got some angsty hang-ups...

Cheers,

Drew.
