shipdata.plist question

Post by Smivs »

Just a quick question...
Looking through the main shipdata.plist I notice that under 'Roles' for each ship there is the main role (eg trader, pirate etc) but also that each ship has its own 'Oolite' role as well. For example the FerDeLance has:-

Code: Select all

roles = "pirate hunter oolite-ferdelance";
Now, pirate and hunter I get, but what is the relevance/significance of the 'oolite-ferdelance' ?
In this example, would this give another (ie non pirate or hunter) role to the ferdelance?

They make it possible to spawn that specific type of ship, for testing or whatever.

Which means that it is generally a good idea to give each ship its own unique role, together with the usually used generic roles.
