We're more popular than Duke Nukem! :)

Post by Kaks »

A little while ago I rediscovered a long-lost oolite entry in freshmeat, one that hadn't been updated in yonks.

Long story short, after a little less than a week of updating our entry there, we're just one place above Duke Nukem Forever in their games/entertaiment category:

http://freshmeat.net/tags/gamesentertai ... popularity

We're about halfway through that page, not quite as popular as Java Classic RPG! :)

Disclaimer: contents may settle during transit, returns may go down instead of up, etc... Still, not bad! It'd be interesting to find out where we are in a month's time or so. Probably! :P

PS: This is probably the only time we'll see Oolite & Duke Nukem in the same context, I reckon.
I must confess it's a bit weird to think that we're just a tiny bit more popular than an unpublished game, though...

I have to say that Oolite is waaaaaaay more popular than DNF. Cause unlike DNF, Oolite had actual releases. :) As well as delivering on promises.
Running Oolite buttery smooth & rock stable w/ tons of eyecandy oxps on:
ASUS Prime X370-A
Ryzen 5 1500X
16GB DDR4 3200MHZ
128GB NVMe M.2 SSD (Boot drive)
1TB Hybrid HDD (For software and games)
EVGA GTX-1070 SC
1080P Samsung large screen monitor

page 17 of 251 with what.... 10 per page? That's;

166 of 2505 that's actually not too bad.

Cool! Our very own freshmeat popularity graph - the green line in the Heartbeat graph - is starting to flatten out after 4 days of meteoric rise, but we might still reach page 15 & 14 yet! :)

As far as I can tell, it's a function of how many times visitors reach our freshmeat page + how many times the website/forum/download links are clicked, in proportion to the overall number of page visits & links clicked through the whole of freshmeat.

Incidentally, we're now on page 7! :D

I suspect we won't be reaching page 6, though.. We've somewhat slowed down since those heady mid-July days... ;)

Almost The Meaning of Life, the Universe, etc...

Post by Kaks »

Update:

As far as the FreshMeat people are concerned, we're now on page 4!

Less popular than Risk, but not too far off...

If I counted it right, it means we're number 43 (out of the 2518 games/entertainment projects they list): 1 more than the meaning of Life, the Universe, & Everything! :)

Hang on a sec. I could've sworn the news said Obama had decided not to release any photographs...
