The Assassins Guild OXP
Having trouble locating the zero-g hockey team at Tiared. Its an early mission, so I would've thought they would be easy to find, but no, can't find them. Have flown up and down the lane, killed a few Red Squadron Vipers when they attacked me, but no sign of the Liner that the marks are in.
Can anyone help?

The hint to the location of your marks is always in the mission screen. IIRC the Hockey Team is probably located between the main planet and the moon (or secondary planet).
If there is no moon in the system, I am mixing it up with another assassination contract.
By the way, there is a long explanatory list of everything in the Assassins ReadMe. If you can't find the team at all, you could always look there.

Had another go at finding the target last night, but to no avail. Tried looking between the two planets, but no sign of them. The second planet is a large volcanic planet, which is bigger than the main planet.
Does anyone know if I can edit my save file to go back before this mission was triggered so I can re-read the instructions for it? When I got the mission it was late at night so I saved and didn't come back for a few days, so I may have forgotten some of the details.

Look for the mission variable mission_assassins It will contain the string: assassins_STAGEXxJazHaz wrote:Does anyone know if I can edit my save file to go back before this mission was triggered so I can re-read the instructions for it? Lower the "Xx" bit. Probably crop of the x to leave just the "X".
UPS-Courier & DeepSpacePirates & others at the box and some older versions

Yes, I thought the Xx thing would be clear when seeing the variable itself. When I remember right you could always start a specific mission by setting the main stage to just "X". The small a/b/c are successive parts of that stage. Mainly interesting when you fully played it and want to replay a specific mission. Or replay from the start by setting it to "assassins_STAGE1"El Viejo wrote:At a guess... remove the 'a', to leave STAGE2.

As you probably all realised I got a little steamed up earlier in another thread and have been offline for a while, to cool off.
Now I realise I forgot to report back on this. Changing the variable to STAGE2 did the trick, as soon as I loaded the save, up came the mission screen to give the info.
Unfortunately, there wasn't any info I had forgotten. No clues as to where I will find the marks, well apart from the system and the ship type, which I knew anyway.

Been a while since I wrote it, but as I remember the Team bus has a slighty modded trader AI and will basically fly from its spawn point to the station. The minders stay with the Bus but will attack you on sight. This may cause you to lose the Bus if you get tangled up with the minders (an assassin needs to keep his eye on the prize! ).
The easiest way to find the bus is to enter the system from hyperspace. Set your cross-hairs between the main planet and the OXP planet and fly a straight course. If you reach the station you've gone too far. Refuel and jump out then back to the system.
Jumping out resets the position. Remember that you will only be masslocked by a traget within 25 kms, so it is possible for you and the Bus to be on courses that don't quite intersect. Check every target, but the Minders will turn red as soon as they come within range of your scanner. Take plenty of fuel (a Fuel Tank can help if you have this OXP installed), since as soon as you as the minders spot you, you'll need to injector towards them and get a target lock on the Bus.
You may want to use an E-Bomb to clear out the minders (as they are a pain both in knackering your shields and distracting you from your real target). The Bus has enough shield strength to survive it. The Bus is slower than the minders though and has a different AI so it is possible for it to stay yellow and try to scuttle to the planet whilst the minders engage you or be just off the scanner when you encounter the minders as they are flying a little behind it. An injector towards them should bring the bus in scanner range though.
You are on the right lines if you've encountered the minders, but probabley just missed the bus in the general scrum!
