LoRes

Post by Thargoid »

I was reading this article in PopSci this morning, and it kinda got me thinking that you lot might enjoy it too. It's a project about taking models of everyday objects and simplifying them (a bit like we do here but in reverse - I think I've discovered the anti-Griff!).

But the one thing that majorly struck me - you take a Lamborghini and LoRes it, what you end up with looks remarkably like a Cobbie3!

Direct link to the LoRes homepage is here.

Didn't see the point of it to start with, the models are just LOD polygon culling, but when I saw that they were actually creating some of the LoRes for real, I thought "that's actually pretty cool".

Nice find.

I somehow liked the car and the shoe. But I didn't see the point in the glasses and bottle. The end results were too randomly distorted and bore no resemblance at all to the objects, whose main feature is symmetry.
