Audio problem

Post by Capt. Random Horowitz »

I have search the Wiki and this site and can't find a solution. The only audio I get in the game is the voice and music. I don't get the laser fire, or the engine noise, or the combat sounds.. I originally thought it was because I installed so many OXP's along with 1.74.1 but I installed the game by itself and got the same result. Everything else works fine... Please help I'm running Window 7 with all my drivers up to date.

Thanks in Advance.
I started playing Elite on my C-64 like 20 years ago. I'm so happy to find oolite. :)

That's weird. Using Vista here and all works fine.

If I shut off the voice and music then I get no sounds.

Yep. Should be the usual thing then .-)

And, no. What I've suggested was to disable espeak (not the music) to see if this changes something. The devs will need every bit of information to find out what goes wrong on your machine.

Another thing is to check the customsounds.plist. Helpful is additionally to post your Latest.log and stderr.txt (if available).

Ok thanks I will try that sometime this weekend.. I did have older versions of the game working, but that was when I was running Vista...

Oh, just another thought. You could run this soundcheck.oxp (2.7MB) that tries to play different soundfiles. If you do, please post the key that is generated.

Hey everyone thanks for the suggestions. I figured it out and now every sound is working. I wasn't installing the OXP's correctly. I was just unraring them and putting them into ADDOns, instead of making sure the folder with the .OXP extension was level one. After I made sure the OXP'a were installed correctly everything started working...
