Griffs Boa Mk ii Graphic anomaly on v1.74

Hi, just running 1.74 ( replaced 1.73.4 completely) and noticed Griffs Boa Mk 2, when viewed from the rear, is now "see through". The engine nascelles have gone and you can look through the ship to whatever is in front, planet, space station etc? :roll:

hmm, that is odd. That whole engine section of the griff boa2 is a subentity, so the fact that there's now a hole there means that the subentity either hasn't loaded or is being placed in the wrong position, i can't see anything in your log though to suggest a problem with the oxp, i've just checked it now on my computer and it worked fine.

Did you see the hole when using an external view camera, or one of the 4 internal cameras? - maybe there is something overwriting the camera view positions causing them to 'clip' some of the polygons, try removing the Griff_illicit_unlock.oxp and restart oolite whilst holding down the shift key untill the spinning cobra title screen appears (this forces oolite to re-read in all the oxp files rather than it's speedier to access cache of them it builds up over time)

All those ‘deprecation’ warnings in the log… I get them from System Redux now with 1.74.
Is there a way to turn them off, so they don’t appear in the log?

The Boa 2 looks fine in my game, btw.
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

Hi Commanders,

I have just re loaded Oolite with the Shift Key and launched my Boa..............the "see through" rear engine" area is no longer see through, back as it should be? I didn't remove any oxp's just did a Oolite load with the Shift key.


The anomaly appeared in outside rear view. I had just survuived a massive assault on my Boa (sucessfully repulsed :D ) and had shot the Ar.se off some Cobras, so perhaps it was due to all the shootin goin on(psudo midwest cowby accent :lol: )

I noticed that whilst shootin their, erm, rears I knocked out their engines, the blue glows went out, which I didn't see before? Anyway all appears OK now, I will go back into the Ararus system again and "look for some trouble". See if the anomaly re appears.

Griff, the only thing I have done is alter your Decall (just repainted it with Paint.net, used the same transparent background, just added a Typeface symbol onto the foreground), hope this wasn't the cause? I will refly and check.

oops, it looks like i've forgotten to make the subentites on the player version of the boa non destructable, i'll upload a fix tomorrow
to fix it yourself, you just need to add an extra line

I always liked the "Nostromo" on the first Alien film. The big Ore carrier with that detachable towing vessel. Hope I am planting a seed there :wink: A Griff Nostromo?

I'd never be able to do all the hull greeblies! If you like the Nostromo, check out this thread Killer Wolf posted in the outworld subforum the other day, it links to a website blogging the construction of an amazing model of the ship built out of bit of model kits and plastic coffee cups!

It appears i've left the frangible = "false" line out of loads of my player flyble ships in the normalmapped shipset, i've been through them all now adding it in whilst getting the next dizzy all-in-1-bundle ready (to add in the materials settings and the boa mk1 and alternative python.

As I have sort of proved that AC3D can cope with creating mostly valid Oolite friendly .obj files - AC3D comes with a Greeble creation plugin and you can use AC3D on M$/Linux/Mac....

wouldn't that make the greeblies out of actual polygons though DH? although, thinking about it, you could probably then 'bake' all that lovely greeblie geometry from the high poly model into a normal map for the low polygon oolite friendly model

Hi Guys, whatever it is your saying it sounds great :D The quality of the graphics now appearing in Oolite is stunning :D The immersion into the game is more and more mesmerising and adds very much to the total addictiveness. Do we want more? 'course I do............ :lol:

I am all for those "Frangible Subentities" that can be blasted off your (and AI) ship when under fire, but that one missing panel on the back of the Boa was, well, like they had used a Plasma Weapon ( Mutabilis) and drilled out my entire ship :lol:
