Smivs'Shipset

Post by Smivs »

Edited to reflect changes made on Thurs 24th June 2010 following removal of the Supplement. The Supplement has been replaced by Accessories OXP.

I am happy to announce that Smivs'Shipset is now finished and available for download. This Oolite Expansion Pack (OXP) is a replacement ship set giving the Ships in Oolite a new, photo-realistic look. This is achieved by applying new textures (skins) to the original models. This preserves the originality of the game...the ships are the same shape, but are much better looking!

As this OXP just re-skins the original models it should not overwrite or interfere with other OXPs.
The Shipset is available in both Standard- and High-definition editions, depending on your computer's graphics capabilities. Be warned, the HD Shipset weighs in at a hefty 28.6MB. The SD Shipset is 5MB.

Full details, pictures of all the ships, and downloads are available on my Oolite OXP page. There is also a page including download links here on the Wiki .

That is a very suitable set for the restricted mode i would say.

Great Work! :)

First Bug-fix
There was a slight error in the shipdata.plist on the Standard Definition edition of the Shipset which caused the exhaust flumes on the Boa Class Cruiser to be in the wrong position, and the Exhaust flume of the Boa to be far too big. This has now been corrected in Version 1.1, and this has now been uploaded to the download site.
The High Definition edition is OK (I'd changed them here during testing, but forgot to transfer the changes to the SD edition).
If you have the SD edition, and can't live with dodgy exhaust flumes, feel free to re-install. Sorry!

Following the release of Version 1.74 I have been overhauling my OXPs to add lighting effects (emission and illumination maps).
I am taking this opportunity to tidy-up some aspects of the Shipset.
The Shipset proper is still undergoing update and I expect to be able to re-release it in a few weeks time. All the minor ships have now been included in the main Shipset.

The Supplement has been removed and replaced by Accessories OXP .
