Major bug with 1.73.4 on Lucid

Post by Phantom Hoover »

Basically, when trying to display one of Griff's shadery things, the GPU hangs, and it breaks the entire X server. I'm using a self-compiled version.

That’s a bug in your GPU driver. (It may well be triggered by a bug in the shader, but if a shader can freeze the GPU, and the GPU isn’t physically broken, it’s definitely a bug in the driver.) You might want to point the driver’s developers at Oolite and the OXP in question.

I can confirm it must be a local bug - 1.73.4 works fine on Lucid here (64-bit, nVidia proprietary driver 195.36.15)
The glass is twice as big as it needs to be.

Yeah, from what I can gather my graphics card is basically a piece of card with some lines drawn on it.

Mine doesn't even exist...I've got one of those s**t Intel graphics accelerator thingys on the motherboard instead, whose days are numbered I hope.

My laptop's got an integrated Intel 945GM chipset (GMA 950 video chipset) and it's fine for Oolite.. Linux & Windows.
