BB read posts remaining unread?

Post by DaddyHoggy »

A random selection of posts (different each time) remain unread even after I've read them - forcing them to be read via "mark all posts in this thread read" works, until next time...

Latest Firefox under Windows 7.

Is it just me?

EDIT: Even this post shows up as unread after I've posted it - and own posts never normally (for me) show up as unread...

Had the same problem. Cleaned up my browser cookies and the problem went away. Strange thing was that I had the problem on more than one computer, but only when using FireFox, IE was ok.

I have this problem from time to time with FF also.. I delete my aegidian cookies and it's fixed again, for a month or two.. (be sure you've read everything new first, because if you don't, when you log back in, you won't know which posts you haven't read yet..)
Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied

Same here. The read/unread-handling tends to get messy after some time, at which point deleting the cookies helps.

Thanks guys - yup, that sorted it! So is it FFs fault or the BBs?

Given my comment above, same problem on multiple computers, but only when using Firefox, I suspect the combination of Firefox and the BB. I only cleaned up my laptop (I use it the most). My work computer fixed itself after that. When it happens again, I'll have a closer look.

Weird, given that Firefox (geco) and Safari (Webkit) use different engines. My finger is turning towards the BB.
Why then, does it not happen with IE. Or is it just that I haven't used IE enough. (Only use it when I'm on one of the more tightly controlled PC's at work.)

I have a similar problem with the BB and I use Firefox too.

I use mobile broadband, but it tends to drop connection sometimes. If it does whilst I'm reading the BB, then all my unread topics get marked as read! :|

Oddly I get quite the opposite effect - under IE8 if I have to restart (or even sometimes just at random) all my unread posts get marked as read. Bloody annoying as I then have to work out from the posting times and order where I'd got to...
