Bad news re the wiki

Post by Phantom Hoover »

Google is starting to realise that it's down; as a result, pages are disappearing from the search and cache. I would suggest anyone with content they want saved makes a local copy.

Damn, 'cos I'm always forgetting what the letters in the advanced space compass stand for and used the wiki to look them up.

Hi, and welcome to the board.

Green = ahead
red = behind
Circle (green or white centre) = planet
Circle (yellow centre) = Sun
Crosshairs = active target
Square = Space station
W & triangle = witchpoint beacon
N & triangle = Navigation beacon (space station)
S & triangle = SecCom station (Galactic Navy OXP)
C & triangle = Con Store (YAH OXP)

There may be other OXP symbols I don't know about, but hope this helps.
Smivs.

However long it takes for the new server that's on order, to arrive. If it's coming from overseas, then the recent disruption from volcanic ash may well have affected it.

Of course, I'm assuming that the wiki is hosted in the UK as Winston is here.

Actually, according to his profile, Winston is located on the Isle of Man. Which may complicate things a little...

The wiki server is in a datacentre in London, not at home.

The new box was held up by the recent spot of bother with the rumblings in Iceland, but I'm told it has arrived now and is being assembled and tested. Hopefully not too long now.

Good to know. I asked the the UPS delivery man yesterday how things went as he was earlier at our door than usual. He said: "Hectic".

For those that want instant access to my oxp's I changed my signature. It now points direct to my box account, containing about 30 oxp's I worked on in the past.

I'm thinking of a Dust Storm thing of Oolite. Where a planet or section of a galaxy is off limits due to dust from a recent supernova. Causing havoc for people with passenger or cargo contracts.
