OXP reccomendations

Post by Phantom Hoover »

With the wiki down, it's difficult to find out about the range of OXPs available: the Internet Archive doesn't have anything less than 2 years old and the Google caches lack pictures and all of the links are broken.

Is there anywhere where I can find a list of OXPs that are particularly highly-regarded, or just a list of OXPs that experienced users have?

I would not know of. (other than forum topics "please recommend some oxps")

But I think members here can make better oxp suggestions if they know what you want / your experience in Oolite (difficulty) / your PC specs (roughly).

here's my list. It's pretty small and doesn't reflect the wealth of OXPs out there. Still, I think there are some favourites in here:

Anarchies (look-and-feel, gameplay)
Behemoth (utility)
Commies (look-and-feel)
Deepspace Pirates (gameplay)
Galactic Navy (missions, ships)
Griff Ships (look-and-feel (ships))
Interstellar Help (gameplay)
Snoopers (look-and-feel)
Status Quo Q-Bomb (gameplay)
System Redux (look-and-feel (planets))
Thargoid Wars (gameplay)
Thargorn Threat (ships, gameplay)
Total Patrol (gameplay)
UPS Courier (missions)
Wolfwood's Variants (ships)

have a search on the Expansion Pack thread - you may be able to find some box.net links or similar to actually download these. Plus all the other goodies that are out there.

what OXPs do you have so far?

Currently just Griff and Drones. It's normally possible to get download links with the Google caches, but it's impractical for perusing the ones available.

does anyone remember the url for the wiki page with the massive OXP table in it? If that's cached, you can peruse away...

Yes, it's cached, but it's difficult to use and not all of the pages referenced are cached. The suggestions given should be fine, though.

Should be: http://wiki.alioth.net/index.php/OXP

according to my history log.

If you want any of mine you can get them direct from box.net in the links below.

If you want the cache for the wiki's OXP page, http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/s ... uk&strip=1 is the URL I get, and you can find the cache for a given page by Googling "site:wiki.alioth.net <pagename>", clicking on the link saying "Cached" and then clicking "Text-only version" in the header on the page that loads. Note that this only works for individual pages: links do not work, and that because of the text-only version the formatting is wrong and there are no images.

well, enjoy what you can get your hands - think of it as an aperitif until the wiki is back up.

Well, if I'd knew of place where to upload half a gig data, I'd toss you my complete OXP folder...plenty of stuff to choose from.

For free, registering needed, but more convenient: Dropbox!
You get a folder in your home folder which gets synchronized. You can get the links from your explorer/finder/whatever you use on linux. 2GB maximum for the free version, 256 MB extra if you use this link.
Might be much more convenient cause you really just have to drop your OXP folder in there and post the link.

Well, already uploaded...took like 2 hours, so apologies if I don't do it again :D

Enjoy...and by the way, I forgot to remove my keyconfig, so if you want to use it...tuned for my keyboard and full use of jaw controls tho, would take time to get used to.

Thank you hugely. While I can't download it now (it's half eleven at night), I'll try tomorrow.
