Griff, how do I use GIMP to add the alpha channel back into the texture? I've been searching and can't work out how to do it.Griff wrote:i think i might have over complicated things, you could just use xnview to split the alpha from Griff_cobra_mk3_mainhull_diffuse_spec.png and save it somewhere for safekeeping whilst you recolour the rest of texture map in paint or gimp and then use GIMP to add the alpha channel back into the texture and resave it ready for Oolite
Griff ships with player-defined decals

Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied

Ok KW... I've modified the pic so the phone is visible.. take another look..Killer Wolf wrote:Like the Memphis Belle nose art (big fan of the film, and the B17), but i think she's holding a phone to her ear; looks a bit odd having the cable still there w/ the phone removed.

She does look a bit like a rear view of Tex Avery's "Red Hot Riding Hood" – who would also make a great decal ...

Have a look at this pdf dizzy, http://www.box.net/shared/jk87l4f0gw ignore all the stuff it talks about regarding illumination maps etc, it's basically a series of steps on how to merge a greyscale image into another textures alpha channel using gimp, mind you, I don't really know a lot about gimp so hopefully someone knows a faster/better way of doing the same thingDiziet Sma wrote:Griff, how do I use GIMP to add the alpha channel back into the texture? Nice..
I hope to have a re-worked Gunboat Diplomat up soon.. that blue/green with Guy Fawkes decal just doesn't do it for me.

I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!
